Chapter 92: The Letter Arrives

At the House of Memory, Liss received Nyori's letter.

She read it twice. Then a third time.

Then folded it.

"She's curious. Not hostile," Liss said.

"I want to meet her."

Thessaly frowned.

"It could be bait."

Naia shrugged.

"I like her. She's mouthy."

Elyse smiled.

"She's honest. That's rare."

So they left the house in trusted hands. And set off.

Toward Emberlight.

The school had grown bigger—almost holy. Statues of memory. A shrine to Korrin. A hallway filled with floating letters from children who wrote to Liss.

And waiting at the gate, sword sheathed and eyes calm—

Nyori Vael.

"Welcome, Hoshino," she said.

"Want to find out if I deserve to follow you?"

Liss grinned.

"Only if you promise to try and beat me first."
