"That's right," Howard replied, "Professor Slughorn likes him very much. I see him in Slughorn's office every time I go to do labor service."
He glanced at Ms. Pince, who was registering book loans and returns at the Library entrance, then stuffed another piece of pudding into his mouth and wrote down his feelings on the parchment.
"Can't we imitate him and put something in his Potion?" Kona suggested.
"Snape is proficient in Potions, he's not an idiot. How could he not tell the difference?" Alfrina immediately rejected the idea. "Even Howard could tell there was a problem with just a sniff!"
? Howard felt something was off, but didn't know what to say.
"Then what should we do?" Kona was a little disappointed. "We can't just let him off, can we?"
"...Don't you feel like we're acting like those troublemakers from Gryffindor right now?" Gary couldn't help but interject. "We can't be like this, trying every possible way to get revenge on others."
"Howard didn't eat that apple pie with the hiccuping Potion in it, did he?"
"That was attempted crime!" Alfrina's expression suddenly turned fierce, her eyebrows furrowed, and she leaned her face close to Gary's. "That doesn't mean we can let him off!"
"...Then do we have a way to get revenge on him now?" Gary spread his hands. The three were speechless. From the current situation, they had no chance to get revenge on Snape.
Gary didn't expect the opportunity to come so quickly; Snape practically delivered himself.
"Can you do me a favor?" One Sunday in early May, the four were, as usual, heading from the tower to the Library to read and discuss. Unexpectedly, they met Lily on the way. She was anxiously standing in the second-floor corridor, looking around hopefully. When she saw the four of them, she breathed a sigh of relief, quickly pulled Snape over, and with a generous smile on her face, Lily said to the four.
"Severus was attacked by some prank item someone left in the corridor and needs to go to the Hospital Wing to see Ms. Pomfrey," Lily said. "Professor McGonagall wants me to go to her office, so I can't go with him..."
"I told you I can go myself!" Snape said discontentedly, covering his head. His head was shaking as he spoke, and a yellowish, sticky liquid was still oozing from his scalp. A pungent stench could be smelled from far away.
"Severus!" Lily was very angry. "How can I be at ease seeing you swaying like this!"
"Can you?" She turned her head and asked amiably.
"Yes, yes, of course!" Howard's face creased with laughter. Who would have thought Snape would be delivered to them by Lily?
"Helping classmates is a good virtue!" Alfrina smiled like a fox who had stolen something.
"Alright then, Severus is in your hands." Lily waved her hand and walked towards Professor McGonagall's office with her bag.
"Let's go, Mr. Snape." Kona couldn't help but smile.
"What are you laughing at?" Snape frowned, asking warily.
"Nothing, it's just that you look a little funny..." Kona covered her mouth, her eyes fixed on Snape's head, trying hard not to laugh out loud.
Snape subconsciously wanted to touch his head. He glared fiercely at the four. "Alright, I can go to the Hospital Wing myself, no need to trouble you."
He had put hiccuping Potion in an apple pie five months ago, and although the four's expressions didn't look like they had been tricked, he was still uneasy.
"How can that be?" Alfrina disagreed. "Lily entrusted you to us. How can we let you go alone?"
This enthusiasm successfully dispelled Snape's doubts, coupled with Lily's request...
The four dragged Snape to the Hospital Wing.
"What happened?" Ms. Pomfrey heard the knock and opened the Hospital Wing door. "Another one?" She muttered something nonsensical and let them in.
When the five walked in, they understood what Ms. Pomfrey meant.
A room of about a hundred square meters contained five rows of twenty beds in total, already filled with students.
"Tell me, how did this happen?" Ms. Pomfrey sat behind her desk, pulled out a piece of paper, and asked casually.
"Well, it was on the moving staircase from the third floor to the second floor, at the last step. Someone put this prank toy there and also cast a Transfiguration Charm on it," Snape said, covering his head, his voice somewhat low. "A fist reached out and hit my head, then the fist opened, and a handful of orange-yellow liquid spilled onto my head."
The four Ravenclaw students timely showed sympathetic expressions. Ms. Pomfrey asked Snape to tilt his head slightly towards her, then examined his injury.
Gary could even see the light reflecting off Snape's greasy hair under the lamp.
Ms. Pomfrey didn't care much, leaned in to take a look, and then lightly tapped Snape's head with her wand.
A white, opaque protective shield enveloped Snape's head from top to bottom. Ms. Pomfrey muttered strange spells, and blue ripples flowed over the shield, which then gradually disappeared from bottom to top.
"His brain is fine," Ms. Pomfrey said. "His forehead is slightly swollen, and the liquid on his head is orange juice mixed with slug mucus."
Everyone's faces turned pale, clearly disgusted. Howard's reaction was particularly unique; his face showed a look of disgust, and he covered his mouth with his hand, his shoulders shaking. Gary felt he was laughing.
Snape, sitting on the stool, was swaying precariously, his face terrifyingly grim.
Ms. Pomfrey waved her wand, and the disgusting liquid on Snape's head disappeared. A silent cleaning charm, Gary thought with admiration.
"Alright, just lie down in the common room for one night and you'll be fine." Ms. Pomfrey wrote a prescription, took out a tube of clear, colorless Potion from her desk drawer, "Drink this; it will help you sleep."
Snape took the Potion and uncapped it. "Sleeping Draught?"
Ms. Pomfrey nodded. Snape gritted his teeth and drank the Potion in one gulp.
The four escorted Snape out of the Hospital Wing.
"I told you not to follow me," Snape said impatiently as they walked downstairs to the Slytherin common room.
Howard whispered into Alfrina's ear. Alfrina nodded happily, looking extremely pleased, her round eyes now almost narrowed into slits.
Howard left the group and ran off somewhere. Gary saw Alfrina's expression and felt it wasn't a good sign; she had that same smile when she was cross-cutting daisy roots in Potion Class earlier.
As they approached the Great Hall, the three slowed their pace. Snape walked ahead alone, and it looked like he was about to step onto the last stair.
