The sound of crashing filled the air as glass items flew around the room, shattering on the floor.
"Princess, please calm down!"
Kaida's lady-in-waiting begged her voice seeping in from the cracks on the door ,her voice trembling with concern.
Whispers from the maids filled the air, and I couldn't help but overhear them. "
The princess is throwing one of her tantrums again..."
"I wonder what would have made her so angry..."
"I hate it when she's not happy."
No one dared interrupt, they could only watch from a distance doing nothing.
The princess's behavior was familiar, almost rehearsed.
I'd seen it many times before, and I knew exactly what I needed to do.
The throwing, the screaming, the drama – I was about to put up one hell of a show.
A mischievous grin appeared on my face as my hand searched for my next victim.
Kaida was supposed to be back by now, and I had no idea where she was
I sat comfortably on the bed, disheveling the room by throwing anything within my reach.
My heart was racing, and my palms were sweating as sound of loud pounding repeatedly echoed through the room making me restless.
Everything was the chaos
The guards throwing orders, the maids waiting to see what was going on with the princess
"Let us in, Princess!" one of them shouted. "We have orders from the Alpha himself!"
I kept throwing things and screaming, trying to play my role properly.
My voice was hoarse, and my throat hurt. The pounding grew louder and more insistent, the guards determined to get in.
Just as I thought they were about to break down the door, I heard the familiar voice I had grown to know
Rowan was here.... And I didn't like when Rowan was involved in stuffs like this .
"Wait!" he commanded making the soldiers flinch.
"I'll handle this."
The pounding stopped, the silence deafening and I breathed a sigh of relief.
But then, the door was flung open, and Rowan stood in the doorway, his eyes scanning the room.
"What the... why did you damage my door?" I said, frustration and surprise spilling through my voice.
"A girl can't express herself without being disturbed?" I said trying my best to retain my charade.
I wrapped the veil tightly on my petite face frame allowing only my lips to be exposed
Rowan's eyes narrowed, and his voice was calm but menacing.
"Beta Lila said she wasn't sure you were in your room, and you may have made your maid do stuffs to hide that fact... and the guards saw someone in the garden.
" He took a step closer, his eyes fixed on me. "We need to talk about that."
I watched as Rowan's gaze swept the room, his eyes lingering on me for a moment before moving on.
I held my breath, Had he noticed?
I was a great actor so he isn't supposed to catch on this easily I thought to myself.
My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to be caught.
I took a step back trying to get away from his scrutinizing eyes
Rowan took another step closer, his eyes fixed on me.
"You're being awfully defensive, Kaida. What's going on?"
I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant, but my hands were shaking.
"Just having a bad day, Rowan. Don't mind me."
Rowan's eyes lingered on me, and I could tell he didn't believe me or maybe he knew but was playing dumb.
But he didn't push the issue further. Instead, he turned to leave.
"I'll let you calm down, Kai…da, but we'll talk about this later."
As the door closed behind Rowan, I let out a sigh of relief falling heavily back into the bed.
I had managed to keep up the act, but I knew it wouldn't last forever. Kaida would have to come back soon, and I'd have to make sure she was safe.
I listened as everyone dispersed, the maids probably going to get cleaning materials and the guards following the prince.
I waited for a few minutes, listening to the silence outside the room. Then, I heard the sound of footsteps, light and quick. Kaida was back.
The door opened, and Kaida slipped inside, a look of relief on her face.
"Thanks, Elera," she said, out of breath.
"I thought it was definitely over for us this time" she said chuckling at herself
I smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction and relief. "It isn't funny princess"
Kaida nodded trying to hold on her laughter, " let's go to your room, I'm scared of beta Lila " kaida said finally bursting into a fit of repeated laughter
Seeing how happy she was made me smile soon joining her in her laughing spree as she jumped on top of me on the bed kissing my face repeatedly
We walked out of the room trying to avoid the eyes of any living human.
As we walked down the corridor, Kaida turned to me with a mischievous grin. "You know, Elera, you're really good at throwing tantrums."
I was wasn't I.
