Chapter 25 – Shadows and Sunlight
The sun came earlier now.
Spring was giving way to the edge of summer, and the air in Lisbon was thicker—not heavy, just fuller, like every breath carried more scent, more pollen, more possibility.
For most boys in the Benfica academy, this meant lighter training schedules, ice cream in the cafeteria, and stolen minutes of sunbathing between drills.
But not for Jota.
He felt the shift differently.
When seasons changed, he changed too.
Not louder. Not faster.
Just... deeper.

5:10 a.m. – Before the Light
His alarm didn't need to ring.
His body woke on instinct now.
He sat up in bed, feet on the cold tile, breathing in the stillness. Bruno slept soundly across the room, one arm over his face. Outside, the sky was bruised with the last shadow of night.
Jota dressed quickly: base layer, track jacket, boots slung over one shoulder.
