He was dressed in light clothes, one meant for indoors within his chambers. He had already eaten and sat waiting for his chamberlain to return.
As someone in charge of everything concerning him, she was trying to put everything on track due to her absence over the past week.
She came in, eyes darting around to ensure everything was in order and spotlessly clean.
She was a clean freak and perfectionist, more so than the prince himself.
"You are above..."
"Come on. Sit and tell me."
"Haha!" She was joking, just stalling for time to pull out the annoyance in him.
She sat across from him, her long raven hair flailing and her black stern eyes fixed on him. Seeing a stew drop on his chest, she couldn't help but move fast to his room and return with another shirt and make him change.
"That's better!"
Seth sighed and stared at her.
"What is your plan at the moment?" She asked first.
"I want to do something different and unique than my siblings. Like finding something that the empire needs but doesn't have and then providing it!"
Seth explained. He has a hunch, a powerful one but he will have to understand it well.
"That will be very hard. The empire has everything one can think of. But you are on the right track. Nothing can truly be perfect."
She pulled out a smooth stone tablet, the moment he seeped his Psion Hand into it, he would get the information within.
"I started this investigation..."
Seth raised his hand. "In short sentence, what is the plan?"
Chamberlain Rin became thoughtful before she said,
"Forget about everything and amass vast wealth."
The Ninth Prince was taken aback. 'Not martial power, or personal power, or even reputation. Just wealth,'
He leaned to the side and rested his head on his palm.
'Wealth is undeniably important but not everything.'
"Reason!" he asked again.
"You have everything but personal wealth!"
She kept it to a few sentences as he had requested earlier.
'That's true.' He looked around. Everything he had was given to him from the imperial treasury.
Of course he had large savings, but he knew how they could be burned so easily in campaigns.
"Okay, I agree. But before that, summon the Imperial Academy Principal."
She moved fast and returned two seconds later.
"Are you ready to hear the plan?" she asked.
"Yes. But I don't have strength, I don't have a reputation or any authority. Remove my Ninth Prince title, then I have nothing. Don't you think people need to be impressed by me and to believe in me?"
"Nope." She shook her head. "It has been established that all Imperial Siblings are monster geniuses and create incredible things. You are no different. That alone is enough.
"Your Ninth Prince title gives you a status above the Kings and Dukes. You are basically only below the Emperor. That's authority. You don't need more than that.
"Power is the easiest to get. You are a Psion. Based on your feats at the trial, you are better than your siblings. Controlling gold on day one is something hard to do.
"Your constitution is weak, but that doesn't change the fact that you have Somatic Power. All we have to do is find what Branch it is and look for Martial Arts that suit it.
"As I said, Power should not be our focus. But wealth. With wealth you become independent and command anything that comes under your fold.
"And with it you can start a venture that is unique.
"One thing that is never obsolete in the world is knowledge and wisdom, which lead to discovery and invention. That's why rich people with no noble title call the shots in some kingdoms."
She explained it all in one breath and hoped he saw reason in her idea.
"I assume you have a field you want us to focus on," Seth said.
"Yes. It's one of many projects the Empress had started as a hobby. A type of machine that uses water as a power source!"
"I lost interest!" Seth said as he slumped back.
"Hear me out please!" Rin pleaded
"I'm listening!" He said, and she went on for half an hour explaining herself.
The more she talked, the more he sat and listened, and at last a smile appeared on his face.
"That is doable," he commented. "But there are other things better. Sponsoring war and exploration have brought wealth more than this."
Chamberlain Rin countered, "There are fewer wars now. Only exploration, but even that was slowed due to the crowning going on."
The Ninth Prince shook his head, "Still. If I get powerful easily, I can personally go on exploration and get enough resources that can be converted to the wealth you spoke about."
Rin became exasperated. "The type of wealth I am talking about is Liquid Wealth, not Rigid Wealth. Through my process, the money and everything we amass can be moved from one location to another with ease..."
"Too risky. Don't you think?" he said.
"Yes. But we will operate within the Empire. Making them untouchable."
"Why? The idea is fine but too vague... and why do we need to be flexible?"
"Do you know how Duchess Miriam Zaki gained her title?" Rin inquired.
"Yeah. She helped in a war!" Seth answered.
"Yes. She was rich enough to loan the Empire her money for the war against the Eastern Endoer Beast.
"Can you imagine how wealthy one needs to be to loan our great empire?"
Seth shook his head.
"Well, it means the wealth she controlled at that moment was at least 0.1 of the empire's wealth." Chamberlain Rin explained with awe.
"But we never need her!" Seth retorted. How can their great empire need her
Chamberlain Rin was patient the shade light on the event,
"Yes. We don't. But the labor of taking resources from the empire to the outskirts will take time, and cost more. And by the time we arrived, the east would have fallen.
"The Duchess at only 15 years shouldered all that and won the war before the empire arrived. When the emperor moved to repay her, she said it was her service to the Empire. The next week she was elevated to Duchess of the East."
Seth knew the history. She was the only Duchess that didn't have an ancestral title.
Now that he thought about it, an empire that thrived on tradition and bloodline just elevating someone in the blink of an eye was quite strange.
That could only mean her help was most desired at the time.
But she also got more than title because her children got some of the Birthright of the Sundown Imperial Family.
Seth sighed. He would go with the Rin plan.
They would seek wealth, but he had something else in mind and the wealth would greatly help him.
The Ninth nodded and said, "Okay. Good. But I need you to search for a Miracle Stone for me. The transparent one!"
She sighed and leaned back, knowing that was a daunting task to do.
That stone was the most coveted and rarest stone in the continent.
"Make it subtle and loud about it. Say there are rewards for information about it!"
"Yes. My Prince." She then asked, "Should we proceed?"
"Yes."
Every Imperial Prince had a starting fund of 20 billion gold coins. All Rin had to do was go to the vault and access it as Chamberlain.
"We will start with 1 billion gold and if there is no return in one year we will change to a new venture," she said.
"Fine." He was thoughtful. The flashes of the memory were becoming meaningful to him.
Especially the ruins, he was getting an intuitive understanding of when they were built, and how long it took to build them. Their general layout.
Seth's body trembled as one ruin in particular took the lives of thousands of men as part of its building.
'A dark ritual!'
Thinking about that, the process came to him in broken pieces but also knowledge he already learned about Dark Magic surfaced and began to make things into the type of magic it was.
'Sacrificial!' They died as a sacrifice. Some willingly and the rest forced.'
'Why?' he asked himself and immediately saw a vision of kids, women and a few men, laying in a hall, drugged, sleeping as if dead.
A presence washed over them before it went ahead. Never coming in.
'Endoêr, The Nether!' Seth trembled as sweat covered him.
The ruin was created to hide from one of the dangerous entities of the world. The entity roamed the world to bring death to all life.
The ruin was a temple, constructed with sacrifice within. This tricked the entity into believing that all that was inside were dead and so it moved ahead.
"Rin!" He looked at her, she dropped the tablet in her hand. "I will travel to the central plains!"
"Yes." She walked out to make the arrangements.
While Seth closed his eyes. He is going to that temple for something.
"I should also finish what I started there!" he said before he dove back into the Memoirs in his head.
The other ruins were council halls. Seth saw how many times people used it and also the most important decisions they made in it.
At first it was unassuming but he recognized it was the last Throne Chamber before they moved to the current Throne Chamber.
Seth focused, though it was blurry, but could glimpse the reason for the transfer.
Someone was shouting in anger, he didn't want to.
'The former king!'
The Empire started as a small Settlement, to Town, to City, to Kingdom and to Empire that kept expanding till now.
The one angry was the King of that time.
"You want me deformed into a monster. Why will I sit at the seat of evil?"
This voice echoed in Seth's mind, his heart beat wildly as his emotions resonated to match the former King's emotions.
The King was filled with fear, no it was terror with deep pity at himself.
'Name of the King!' Seth asked himself.
°King Solemn Of Realmere!°
The information came from his knowledge of history that automatically matched with the characteristics of the Memoir.
"That is impossible. The greatest king before the first Emperor. The very first person that became a Psion which we all inherit from."
