Chapter 16: Silent Oath

The evening sky turned crimson, casting long shadows across the training ground behind Team 7's pavilion. The sounds of heavy breathing and exhausted footsteps had faded, leaving only silence.

Do-Yoon lay sprawled on the ground, fast asleep from fatigue. Jin Seo-Won stood tall in the center of the devastated training field, sweat trailing down his jawline—but the fire in his eyes remained unshaken.

From a distance, Soo-Ran watched quietly.

She had witnessed much since their first meeting—how Seo-Won had defeated Mu-Ryong, saved Do-Yoon, and led their team with an iron will and a wounded heart.

But today felt different.

She saw another side of the Fourth Prince: a man battered but unyielding, someone who chose the path of thorns not for glory… but for something deeper, something still hidden in silence.

Soo-Ran lowered her gaze. Her heart pounded in her chest. She had lived her life overshadowed by the noble clans, looked down upon because she came from nothing. But Seo-Won—once cast aside as a worthless prince—now stood like a mountain against the storm.

He made her believe that she too… could become something more.

As Seo-Won turned to leave, Soo-Ran suddenly dropped to her knees.

> "Wait."

Seo-Won stopped, glancing back with a slight frown. Soo-Ran clenched her fists, her body trembling—not from fear, but from resolve.

> "From this day forward… allow me to follow you, Fourth Prince. Not as just a teammate… but as your sworn follower."

> "I am no one," she continued, her voice hoarse.

"But if you'll let me… I will walk behind you, follow your path—even if it's soaked in blood."

Seo-Won was silent.

The night wind whispered between them, filling the stillness. His gaze softened as he turned fully to face her.

He didn't speak. He simply walked forward and extended his hand.

Soo-Ran looked up, tears shimmering in her eyes. That hand—wasn't just an invitation.

It was a beginning.

> "Then… stand," Seo-Won said.

"Because from now on, you're not just a disciple. You're part of my path."

And beneath the darkening sky, the oath was made. No audience. No ceremony.

But stronger than any contract.

Soo-Ran had chosen.

And Seo-Won… had accepted her choice.
