Liza was pensive once again, thinking of the right way to investigate Edrick's involvement with the tragedy that had befallen her parents.
"Damian's right, I shouldn't have acted rashly by immediately investigating Edrick just because of Gavin's words. It could be that my cousin is looking for a scapegoat to protect that asshole Dimitri. Isn't he that bastard uncle's favorite son?" Liza's mind raged.
On the one hand, Liza was eager to carry out her plan to investigate Edrick. On the other hand, she knew how dangerous it would be if her adoptive father found out about her behavior behind her back. It was possible that the leader of Crocs de Lion would immediately finish Gavin for daring to incite him to do the deeds that the man hated so much.
"Aaakh! You're all assholes! Not then, not now, you guys are always messing with my mind! Uncle Dimitri is a jerk!" Liza roared while throwing every item around her.
Not long after she managed to calm her own emotions, Liza immediately left her private room and walked quickly to Gavin's room. Yes, after she met with Damian and had received all the advice, Liza decided to give her cousin a chance to prove his own words.
If that man could not prove it, then Liza would not risk investigating Edrick, not out of fear, but instead not wanting to ruin the chance of defeating Dimitri due to losing support due to useless incitement from the cousin.
"Gavin! Gavin!" Liza shouted in a loud voice.
She didn't care about the many eyes that were watching her. Liza just wanted to meet her cousin and clarify everything.
"Gavin, open the door to your room quickly or I'll blow it up myself if you don't come out within five seconds!" threatened Liza seriously.
"Five."
"Four."
Liza picked up a small bomb that was usually specially prepared to open iron safes during robberies.
"Three."
"Two."
With a serious look on her face, Liza immediately attached the bomb to the door of Gavin's room.
"On-" The smooth hand prepared to press the bomb trigger.
"-e."
Before the bomb could explode, the sound of the bedroom door opening and a very familiar voice immediately stopped Liza from causing trouble early in the morning inside their house.
Yes, their house. More precisely, Edrick's private house was the main home for Gavin and Liza besides their organization's headquarters.
"What's wrong, Liza? Why are you so happy to provoke a commotion early in the morning like this?" asked Gavin in a hoarse voice typical of waking up.
Liza frowned, she was assessing Gavin's appearance, which was far from his usual 'ready' when he came out of his room.
"You want to avoid me by pretending to wake up, heh? You think I don't know what time you wake up?" Liza snapped with bulging eyes.
"Calm down, cousin. What's going on here? I'm not trying to avoid you. I was just resting, completing a mission, then you come in all angry like this. What's going on?" asked Gavin matter-of-factly, even though the man already knew Liza's intentions and purpose for coming to him that early.
"Cih, let me go in first. I don't like being spied on by Dad's servants when we talk outside," Liza said while glaring fiercely at the servants who had been watching the interaction between her and her cousin, Gavin.
Gavin looked around the room, then gave Liza the code. Not to enter the room, but to follow him outside and find another place that was more private than Edrick's house.
"Where are you going?" asked Edrick, who had just returned from the headquarters.
"Miss Liza wants to discuss something related to the illicit business we're going to run, Sir", Gavin replied while bowing respectfully to Edrick.
"Don't be so formal with me, Gavin. We're not on base," Edrick interrupted in a commanding tone.
"Yes, Dad."
"Oh, yeah. Where are you going and... what are you talking about?" asked Edrick again, this time with a suspiciously searching look in his eyes.
"We just wanted to discuss some business, Dad. Nothing important really," Liza replied casually.
"Why don't you discuss it here? Dad wants to hear it too." Edrick furrowed his brow, his eyes glaring even harder.
"We just want to talk about the progress of our family business, Dad," Gavin replied again.
"Hmmm." Edrick stroked his chin for a moment, then nodded his head in acknowledgement and quickly made his way to his private room.
"We're leaving, Dad," Liza excused herself.
"Yes."
***
"I'd rather you be sweet at home than serious at the base," Gavin chided once the two of them reached a relatively private place.
"Keep your boundaries, Gavin. I'm only acting like that because Edrick wants a family atmosphere at his house. That doesn't mean I'm acting like that because your persuasion regarding Dimitri's problem persuades me," joked Liza with her usual cruel eyes.
Gavin frowned, seeing the change in his cousin's attitude, which could be considered quite drastic.
"I thought you had forgiven Uncle Dimitri after investigating Edrick. Turns out I was wrong," Gavin said in a disappointed tone.
Liza laughed for a moment, a sarcastic laugh that indicated that the woman did not like the words that had just been said by the man she was sitting with.
"Investigating Edrick? On what basis should I investigate the father who raised me, Gavin? Ah, no. Raised both of us rather. Is it just because of that nonsense of yours?" Liza snapped.
Gavin chuckled. It was hard to open his cousin's eyes because Dimitri, the uncle, was not the real perpetrator of the bombing.
"Then, if you're not investigating Edrick, why did you ask me to meet you at the point of smashing my door early in the morning?" Gavin accused in a tired tone.
"Nothing. I just wanted to discuss with you to calm down the nonsense you threw out yesterday. If it were Edrick who did it, then I'd gladly kill him with my own hands. But I need solid evidence, not just nonsense and blurry photos like the ones you showed me yesterday. Are you able to show me more accurate evidence, Cousin?"
Liza raised her eyebrows as she sipped the tea served by the waiter. "How?" She asked again.
"Are you able? I'll give you five days to prove everything you said," she said.
Gavin thought for a moment, considering everything. If he could prove all of Edrick's rottenness within 5 days, then Liza's hatred for Dimitri could be erased. But if not, then Liza would never again trust him for the rest of that woman's life.
"Alright, I'll give the proof to you as soon as possible. Just wait for the play date." Gavin replied in a serious tone to emphasize that what he said was not mere nonsense.
