Merging like that doesn't carry much risk, as long as your power level isn't too far off from the Awakener who owns the Undead," Evelyn said.
"However, there's no benefit for you in learning the power of death. It's one of the strongest offensive powers—it drains the life of its target, comparable to destruction and slaughter powers—but all three are essentially inferior to void power, which simply erases everything. Studying an offensive power weaker than your own holds no meaning."
Oliver had already been wondering about that—whether learning the power of death would be of any use to him when his void power was clearly superior. It was not only better offensively, but also excelled in mobility and perception. Once he mastered the Void Domain, he'd even gain a significant advantage in suppressing enemies.
In the future, with deeper understanding of Void Step and Void Body Transformation, his survivability would be outstanding.
"Void power is already well-rounded in many areas. What you should be focusing on are abilities that can support your void power," Evelyn continued.
This time, she seemed intent on giving him a lesson.
Oliver looked at her seriously, listening attentively.
Once his Will Realm advanced, he could begin learning another power. Of course, he wanted to know which power would best complement his own.
"You saw Lisa's power—it's called Life Power."
Oliver nodded upon hearing that.
"People who wield Life Power are extremely hard to kill. Unlike your survivability, which depends on evasion, Life Power users are difficult to injure even when standing still. Besides having healing abilities, they also possess one huge advantage—an energy reserve."
"Energy reserve?"
Oliver hadn't heard of that before, but it sounded extraordinary.
"Life Power has little to no offensive capability, but it's very difficult to master. Of course, it's incredibly powerful. Energy reserves are something many people envy. They allow you to instantly refill your spiritual energy inside your Spiritual Space. The larger your reserve, the more times you can refill it in an instant. Lisa, for instance, can do this up to ten times."
"Can energy reserves be used offensively too?" Oliver asked, astonished.
People with that kind of power basically had no need for something like the Magic Energy Drink.
After all, their energy recovery rate surpassed even that of those expensive potions.
Normal cultivators could never keep up since Magic Energy Drinks were expensive, and the stronger one got, the more they needed.
"Yes, but users of Life Power have a hard time learning offensive skills. They're more attuned to survival-related abilities. Still, there is one person who managed to master both Life Power and Destruction Power. That person is currently considered the strongest Cultivator, even though his cultivation level isn't the highest."
Oliver took a deep breath at that.
Of course, it wasn't surprising that someone like that became the strongest.
With energy reserves, he could unleash his most powerful spiritual-energy-consuming attacks multiple times.
"Life Power is just one example. There are other similar powers—like Water, which is slightly weaker than Life Power but still offers minor offensive capabilities; or Material, which gives you an incredibly durable body; or Blood, and many more. But overall, Life Power is considered the best. You should obtain one of these types of powers to make your Void Power even more terrifying."
Oliver nodded repeatedly at her words.
He liked the best. Naturally, he'd choose Life Power.
"I'm interested in Life Power," he said.
"Hmph!"
His words were met with a cold snort from Evelyn.
"You possess a Void Body, so it's easy for you to understand void power. But you have no talent for Life Power. If you try to learn it, you'll face the same difficulties that ordinary people experience during cultivation," she said.
"And you should know—learning a power that opposes your current one increases the difficulty of mastering your original power. If it were easy, there'd be far too many strong Cultivators in the world."
"Master, do you have any suggestions?" Oliver asked with an innocent expression after hearing her explanation.
All of this sounded good in theory—anyone with intelligence could understand it.
But what about the practice?
"Naturally, I'll help you achieve the best. You're my student. But we'll talk about that once your Will Realm advances," Evelyn replied.
"As for merging with that Undead King, it's not like you can't gain anything from it. When you merge with an Undead King, you basically can't use your own power—you can only use the Undead King's power. However, if you achieve a full fusion, fully absorbing the Undead King into yourself, you could essentially make its power a part of your own cultivation."
"But that's difficult—it requires the owner's permission, and you'd need a very advanced technique to do it. But yes, such a technique does exist. Of course, if you mastered it, it would be better to fuse with a stronger being, like an Undead Emperor. I don't know if the Awakener you mentioned has one, but I doubt it. She only recently awakened. Even if she has high Necromancer talent, she probably needs to reach a much higher level before obtaining an Undead Emperor."
