Upon entering the store, Oliver could only be captivated by the various items displayed in glass cabinets or hanging on the walls.
He didn't recognize most of them, but what fascinated him the most were the various kinds of weapons in all shapes and forms.
The interesting part was that they all emitted a faint glow. Some even radiated elements like fire and lightning.
There were also large suits of armor designed to cover the entire body, with versions for both men and women.
Oliver also saw a glass cabinet filled with many luxurious bottles, which appeared to contain Magic Energy Drinks.
They came in various sizes, but there were special bottles that looked small yet supposedly contained liters of the drink.
From what he saw, most of the store's customers were buying these drinks—it was clear they considered them extremely important.
Oliver noticed an appraisal counter guarded by a rather thin middle-aged man wearing glasses, though he didn't look weak in the slightest.
If anyone wanted to sell something in this store, they could speak to this man.
Oliver wasn't the only one selling Monster Cores. There were five others before him, and he had to wait in line.
When it was his turn, he placed all the Monster Cores he had collected onto the table.
"I want to sell these," he said.
The middle-aged man only glanced briefly at the Monster Cores before asking,
"Do you want cash or transfer?"
"Cash!" Oliver replied.
It was a lot, but not too much. Even if he got a bank transfer, he would have to withdraw it later anyway. After all, aside from buying a few things he wanted, he also needed money for household needs, his mother, and his little sister.
As soon as he spoke, the man pulled out nine bills from the drawer. Eight of them were $100 bills, and the last one was $20.
The total was $820.
He placed the money in front of Oliver, who immediately picked it up.
"Thank you," he said before leaving enthusiastically.
It was his first time holding that much cash. Under normal circumstances, it was enough to support his family for about 20 days, since they were quite frugal.
Oliver didn't shop in that store. Even though the Magic Energy Drinks seemed useful, he, who was determined to master the power of life, resolved not to rely on them.
What he really wanted to buy now was a pair of sturdy, durable boots.
He needed them to move around more easily in Chaotic World.
So far, he hadn't even worn shoes there.
In a central city like this, he easily found a large shoe store that sold all kinds of footwear from various brands.
One area of the store was filled with boots, most made of leather.
They were imported from factories in Southeast Asia.
Their prices weren't too high, yet they looked strong.
In the end, Oliver picked two pairs of boots, priced at $60 and $75 respectively.
After paying, he immediately left and stored the two new boots in his Observation Ring.
When he saw a restaurant selling roasted meat, he thought he should buy some for his mother and little sister. They hadn't eaten meat in a long time—only fish every day.
He bought a large portion of roasted meat weighing 5 kilograms, which cost over $100.
He also bought a lot of fresh vegetables to store at home.
Naturally, he bought some nice clothes for himself, his mother, and his younger sister.
If his teacher hadn't given him a storage ring, he would've had a hard time carrying all the items he bought, since there were just too many.
Once he was done, he took a taxi home.
It wasn't even that late yet. His mother and sister were still relaxing in the living room.
Oliver pulled out all the things he bought when he reached the door, opening it while carrying tons of bags.
He immediately saw his mother and sister—both had white hair.
The first was knitting a scarf, while the latter was writing in a notebook.
Their gazes instantly turned to him, surprised by all the things he was carrying.
"Oliver, what did you buy?" Sofia asked directly.
Of course, she asked because she was wondering how he could afford so many things.
"Lots of stuff—and some roast meat!" Oliver placed all the items in the living room and quickly opened them one by one to show what he had bought.
Clothes made up the bulk of it, divided for the three of them.
Emma couldn't help but get up from the couch and pick up one of the girls' outfits that fit her size.
"Is this for me?" she asked.
She very rarely got new clothes, so she looked absolutely thrilled.
"Of course," Oliver replied.
Even though Sofia had some difficulty standing, she still got up to examine the items.
"How did you buy all this?" she asked, astonished.
Unlike Emma, who didn't really think about money, as an adult woman, she naturally considered such things.
"Mom, I've been adventuring in Chaotic World. I got some stuff I could sell and earned $820. Look, I still have money left," Oliver said, pulling out the remaining bills—still over $300.
"Here, this is for your school!" Oliver didn't forget to give his little sister $50.
"Really?" She looked like she couldn't believe she was receiving that much money.
"Next time, I'll earn even more. This is nothing," Oliver replied.
"Mom, keep the rest of this!" he then handed the rest to his mother.
Sofia looked hesitant.
"Why don't you keep it? You might need it more," she said.
"Don't worry, all my needs are already met. This is for you—to buy medicine or anything you need," Oliver said.
Without waiting for her to say more, he placed the money into her hand.
After that, he opened the box that contained the roasted meat.
"How about we eat this meat now?" he asked again.
"Hahaha, great!" Emma cheered happily.
She then ran to the kitchen to grab plates and forks.
Even though it wasn't her favorite dish, who didn't love roast meat? It was just that they hadn't been able to afford it.
