An Obligatory Date and a Looming Family Feud

"I'm not trying to seduce your father," Rosalie finally managed, her voice tight with restraint. "I'm simply looking out for the family reputation."

Camille's eyebrow raised skeptically. "By harassing a guest I personally invited shopping with me?"

I felt like I was watching a tennis match between two equally formidable opponents. The tension in the boutique was suffocating.

"Since when do you bring your father's... employees shopping?" Rosalie asked, her gaze sliding over to me with thinly veiled contempt.

"Since I decided to," Camille replied coolly. "Seraphina is getting that dress. End of discussion."

Audrey, sensing an opportunity to defuse the situation, stepped forward. "Miss Valois, would you like to try on the gown you selected earlier?"

Camille nodded sharply. "Yes. And Seraphina, please go change. We're done here." She turned to her aunt. "I'm sure you can find something suitable elsewhere, Aunt Rosalie."
