The Gala Surprise

"You're overthinking it, Sera," Chloe said, snatching back the glossy flyer for the Silver Crescent Masquerade Gala. "This is exactly what you need—a distraction from all the drama in your life."

I sighed, rubbing my temples. The thought of serving drinks at Adrian's mansion while pretending not to know him seemed like a recipe for disaster.

"I don't think sneaking into a high-society event where my boss, his daughter, and my ex-mate will all be in attendance counts as a distraction from drama."

Chloe rolled her eyes. "Fine. But let's be real—you'll probably get an actual invitation anyway."

"What are you talking about?"

She gave me a knowing look. "Come on. You've been spending a lot of time with Tristan Valois. The man is clearly into you."

Heat crept up my neck. "We've only gone on a few casual dates."

"He kissed you! And he's an Alpha's son from France," Chloe whispered excitedly. "Plus, he's related to the host. There's no way he won't invite you as his plus-one."
