Chapter 9:

After the last conflict, until I resigned, I never saw Caleb Grant again.

After all, he's the CEO, and I'm a regular middle manager, so we wouldn't have much interaction at work.

But Rachel Wong did come to find me a few times, each time trying to persuade us to reconcile.

I couldn't stand her hypocritical demeanor, so the last time I directly gave her a half-smiling stare:

"If you resign now, I'll make up with Caleb Grant. How about that?"

Rachel Wong's expression changed immediately, laughing awkwardly, unwilling to respond to my taunt:

"Oh, this is just a job, how could it affect your relationship with Caleb?"

Once all the tasks were handed over, I logged out of my account and left my workstation carrying a box.

Back at my place, all the beliefs that had been sustaining me these days collapsed.

I hesitated for a long time but finally called my parents; once the call connected, I burst into tears:

"Mom, Caleb Grant and I broke up."
