Chapter 1:

On my thirtieth birthday, I rented out the music restaurant bar all by myself.

The place was adorned with alluring red roses, and the hall echoed with melodious music.

We've had many anniversaries in our relationship, but this one was the most grand and thoughtful.

I looked at Adam Grant opposite the candlelight, my hand hanging by my side, gently clenched.

This time, I took charge of everything for our anniversary.

And he showed up dressed to the nines.

I think he must have sensed what I meant.

Two years ago, I told him I hope to become his bride at the age of thirty.

He surely remembers.

But I know him, he's too shy to speak up; he loves me, but he's bashful.

So, I'll be the one proposing!

"Happy seventh anniversary, Grace," Adam Grant said, pouring juice into a transparent goblet and lightly clinking glasses with me.

Just as I was about to lose my composure, a small two-tier cake was pushed over on a cart.

The cake was placed in front of him.

"Ms. Weller, this is your custom cake, please enjoy,"

The waiter skillfully divided the cake and placed pieces in front of us.

Inside his piece, there's a hidden engagement ring.

As soon as he scoops a bite, I'll immediately propose!

Then I want to see what expression he'll have!

But just as I looked at him full of expectation, as he was about to take a bite of the cake,

Adam Grant's phone suddenly rang.

He looked down at me briefly, then hurriedly stood up and said:

"Lily has contacted me, it's work-related, I need to go over there."

"Adam Grant, do you have to go now?"

Adam Grant suddenly looked impatient,

"I'm working so hard for our future, can't you stop being unreasonable?"

After he finished speaking, Adam Grant turned and left without looking back.

I was frozen in place, trembling all over…

Work?

No,

Work is just an excuse for him to stay by Lily Xavier's side.
