Chapter 5:

The next day, Secretary Miller sent me a message.

"Director Grant says you've been in a bad mood lately, and asked me to arrange a trip for you. Is there anywhere Ms. Weller would like to go?"

I mechanically lifted my finger and sent a message: "No need."

When Adam Grant is at work, the villa feels somewhat empty and lonely.

He is successful in his career now, and increasingly busy. To align with his schedule, I haven't had a proper job since graduating.

Fortunately, I still have one or two college friends in this city.

I arranged to have afternoon tea with Molly, a friend I used to be close with.

Molly, around the same age as me, sat across from me and complained:

"It's hard work putting my kid to sleep. I can only steal some time to relax. You should enjoy the time you have without kids."

I lowered my head and stirred the bitter coffee in front of me with a spoon, the steam fogging up, concealing the loneliness in my eyes.
