Chapter 58: The Most Trustworthy Person

In the dim dungeon, the sound of pages flipping echoed. Gin frowned deeply as he carefully read the file in his hands. It was a plan that Yaku had produced to prove his words, the rough texture of the old paper showing its age.

On the cover, in bold letters:

"War Weapon Cultivation Plan"Author: TajimaChief Editor: Miao

He could only roll his eyes at the ridiculous title before reading it word by word.

The content was rather long-winded. The first half focused on the abilities of the original owner's and Hikari's Mangekyō, as well as the flaws of their respective powers.

It then noted that the two's Sharingan had very high compatibility, and releasing their abilities simultaneously would greatly enhance the destructive power of the Mangekyō.

Miao had concluded that the Uchiha bloodline was far more emotionally volatile than others — especially so in youth. Two young people, with strength far beyond what their age and emotions could handle, could spell disaster for the clan if they lost control.

Fearing such a situation, Miao proposed "de-will-izing" the two — removing their unstable self-awareness while preserving their abilities, turning them into emotionless "weapons" to fight for the clan.

Reading this, Gin's head throbbed. The original owner trusted Tajima implicitly, so for Yaku to show him this document now was clearly meant to strike at his heart.

Flipping to the last few pages, the document highlighted a solution for the irreversible deterioration of Mangekyō power.

According to records, when a Mangekyō's power was exhausted, the body would decline, immunity weaken, and most importantly, eyesight would fail. The solution attempted was transplanting another pair of Mangekyō Sharingan. If no rejection occurred, the power could be restored — and potentially all abilities from both pairs could be used.

"So… my Sharingan were taken?"

Gin looked up at Yaku, who nodded."That's right. Your Sharingan were taken by Tajima afterward and successfully transplanted into the more controllable Hikari."

So it was true. His current eyes weren't his. Gin already suspected something when he returned from the mission and saw the shocked expressions on everyone's faces — they probably weren't even Uchiha eyes.

"What happened to Hikari in the end?"

Gin was more curious about the girl's final fate.

"According to what Mokuryō reported back," Yaku's lone eye gleamed faintly, "after receiving your Mangekyō, her strength soared. Tajima sent her on brutal missions, and her strange abilities made the other clans deeply wary. Not long after, she was ambushed and sealed by the Senju and Sarutobi clans in a hidden place."

Sealed… Gin frowned, feeling an inexplicable urge deep in his heart to find this girl called Hikari.

The restless feeling made it hard to breathe, like a lump stuck in his chest.

"You brought me here, told me all this — are you planning something?"

Though this old man named Yaku was technically his grandfather by blood, he obviously didn't go through all this trouble just for a family reunion.

"That's right."

Yaku admitted frankly."I could've revealed myself long ago, but Tajima's power is too great for either of us to match. And besides, without your Sharingan, your strength is already at rock bottom."

Yaku knew Gin's body had been destroyed by overusing the Mangekyō six years ago. Though his eyes had been removed in time, his meridians and foundation were already in shambles — if lucky, he could still muster some chakra, if not, he'd be a cripple.Given his current state, he was considered lucky.

"So what do you want me to do?" Gin asked again, knowing full well the original owner's power wasn't up to much.

"En recently captured a Sarutobi clan ninja," Yaku said, his eye flashing."That man knows where Hikari is sealed."

So that was it. Yaku was after Hikari. Gin suddenly understood.

Though he'd never seen her fight, he could tell from the abilities she'd gained after the transplant that her combat strength wouldn't be weaker than Uchiha Itachi or Sasuke with Mangekyō.

"As soon as En extracts the location, Tajima will act immediately to break the seal and reclaim his prized 'war weapon'," Yaku continued, staring into Gin's eyes."If you follow them to release the seal, I have a way to help you control Hikari before he does. Then no one in the clan will be your match."

And why was that? Because the author's handsome? Or because the reader's cool?

Hearing Yaku's plan, Gin's first reaction was: why would Tajima let him join such a confidential mission?

From Yaku's own words, Gin had once betrayed Tajima — the fact he wasn't dead was already a favor for blood ties. Who would reuse a traitor?

"If you tell him you want to join the mission, he will agree," Yaku said low, seeing Gin's doubts."All I can say is… you're the only person left in this world that Tajima can still trust."

Hearing Yaku's raspy whisper, Gin's mind went blank.

The Uchiha compound lay quiet in the night. Inside Tajima's residence, Madara and Izuna were already asleep.

In the study, the candlelight still flickered. Tajima sat cross-legged on the floor, eyes closed, as a cold chakra circulated around him.

"Whew…"

After who knew how long, Tajima exhaled a heavy breath and opened his eyes. His pupils did not show the usual three tomoe — a pinwheel pattern slowly spun in his eyes as he felt the immense dōjutsu power."It seems… I've mostly recovered," he thought to himself.

Thinking back to that incident six years ago, Tajima closed his eyes in pain.If heaven gave him another chance, he would rather give up these strongest eyes than let that happen.

Because of it, he not only lost the woman he loved, but also caused his beloved nephew to become a scapegoat.
