Magnus woke up groggy the next morning, his whole body ached from due to the previous days activity but the sight of the wads of cash laying on his kitchen counter washed away all the pain he felt .
He immediately made his bed , said a prayer and then washed himself before heading to the hall to collect his one thousand token bonus .
But before that he had to check on his merchandise. His teammates were now hounding him for the 'whiskey' for almost two months now and he didn't want to keep disappointing them .
After collecting his bonus, Magnus walked into the business registration office in northern Berlin. For one to be a legitimate business owner, he or she must have a licence from a business registration office. This was to monitor taxes and prevent the extortion that occurred with unregistered businesses.
The receptionist , a young lady with jet black hair and a homely face welcomed him to the center and led him to the waiting room where he stayed for about twenty minutes before he was invited into the office.
" I hear you want to register a business, I am David Smith and I would be facilitating your process today. " The manager, a well dressed middle age man said . He was not a mage but his position offered him connection to influential people in the city .
" To register a business, you should produce a valid identification and a fee of one thousand tokens. " David said.
Magnus immediately provided his identification and the full registration amount to the manager .
As the manager scrutinized the identification, his countenance changed.
" You are a mage ." He asked confused, " You will be able to live comfortably regardless so why do you want to go into business?"
" Just think of it as a way for me to keep busy after missions." Magnus replied, his plan was to dominate the economy of the entire world but no one needed to know that yet .
Without wasting much time his license was processed and handed over to him . Now he could get involved in any form of business legitimately anywhere in Berlin. If he wanted to move to another city , he would have to renew his license, that was the way things were .
Few minutes later Magnus was in a low end neighborhood (different from the slums ), there he was discussing the price for the rent of a medium sized warehouse in the area .
" My friend, I can be able to offer you this warehouse for five hundred tokens per month . " The landlord said .
Despite this being a low income zone the warehouse seemed sturdy but what kind of business man would Magnus be if he didn't try to get it for dirt cheap.
" Mr landlord, I'm still a recruit in the Black Lion clan. Let me pay two hundred tokens a month and I'll pay for two years upfront. " Said Magnus in a manner that seemed like he was practically begging, and the landlord who wanted to be in the good graces of a mage still countered and lowered the price to three hundred and fifty tokens a month .
Magnus agreed to this price and after signing the agreement in front of a witness, he paid the rent cost of two years amounting to 8400 tokens .
But Magnus was not done , he employed the services of glass makers, wood makers and blacksmiths to help produce some necessary equipment for the upscaling of his business.
He had them make a bigger distillation equipment which was nessesary if he wanted to produce large batches of alcohol.
He had the glass makers produce 50 cl and one liter bottles each stamped with the logo of his company, a simple rock formation and a drop of water . A minimalistic but unique logo.
He had them produce over a thousand bottles each.
The the blacksmiths after producing the distillation equipment were also tasked with making a small scale printing press that would be used in making labels for his products.
He bought storage equipments and barrels for storing the drinks and water.
By the time he was done with just preparing the workspace, he had spent sixty thousand tokens, including rent and he was yet to start production.
For the next two weeks , after training Magnus made sure that the warehouse was l in perfect working condition . Then he proceeded to start buying large amounts of grain for his beer and whiskey production, honey for mead production, fruits for the production of wine and to infuse flavor in the whiskey and would even be used in the production of brandy.
He finally purchased some potatoes that would be nessesary for the production of vodka.
All this had cost another twenty thousand tokens. He could feel his loot slowly slipping out of his grasp , but he knew that it was a necessary investment that might even fail.
He had a plan to slowly roll out his product in a way that would make people trip over themselves for a taste.
At the moment he was going to focus on making beer , vodka and his signature fruit infused unaged whiskey.
This would be his first products giving time for the aging and production of wine , mead , real whiskey and brandy. So his goal was to use the first products to hold onto the market and fund his other businesses for at least three years till the other beverages were complete.
Soon the purchase of raw materials was over and Magnus began production all at once .
He would come their after morning training to make sure everything was going as planned. He even took up a patrolling job to be close to his business .
This act surprised his now former squad mates as they didn't understand why he with his very high prospects would choose to leave an untsarted career of portal raids , demons and monster hunting to live the life of a patrol guard .
What they didn't know was that he never planned on even staying with the clan for long . Him joining the clan was just a survival tactic nothing more .
