As Max adjusted the raft's course toward the treasure chest which he has identified through his talent, he noticed the notification light on his personal panel blinking, signaling a new system message.
Intrigued by the sudden system notification, Max opened the email and discovered it was a congratulations message for finding his first treasure chest. Since he was the last to find the treasure chest, he now gained access to the new functions such regional chat channel and the world chat channel, then trade market and auction hall.
Max left the mailbox and quickly spotted the chat icon, along with the Trade and Auction icons, located just beneath the personal info icon.
With enthusiasm Max opened the chat and found that only regional chat room can be used for free while to message in the world chat room, you have to use system issued gold coins to send one message.
He also found that the region chat is not always fixed as you move, you will direct to the other regional chat channels.
Basically, while the regional channel is designed to be user friendly for the lords or the ship captains who decided to stay put in one region.
The passing ships can connect to chat channel to gather quick information to know about the region.
With anticipation Max opened the regional chat channel and found there are already many messages flying in the chat channel.
He thought there would be people crying or waling or searching for their family in the chat channel, but the people are discussing about the type of treasure chests present in the region.
After scrolling for a while, he realized no one was actively asking about the family members or crying to send them back to the former world in the chat. Later, they found out they could directly connect with their family by adding them as friends, and the system had already included family members in the friends list. This made it simple to check on their family's well-being, and the conversation naturally moved on to other topics.
While scrolling Max also found that others can find floating wood logs every few hundred meters, and treasure chest every one kilometer.
Most people in the region have only discovered wooden treasure chests and black iron-grade treasure chests. No higher-level treasure chests have been found, or others might have deliberately hidden the information.
Information hiding is a fundamental concept, as everyone aims to stay one step ahead of others. While some may celebrate small successes or dwell on minor failures, those who possess valuable information assets can approach tasks strategically and achieve 100 percent success.
Max checked his friends list and found it empty. As an orphan on the Blue Star with no family to support him, he had no one to rely on. His list was barren, and if there is enemy list then plenty of desperate people would jump at the chance to take him down. Many had lost their fortunes competing against him in the stock market, which had earned him a long list of enemies.
Max gathered required intel and closed the chat channel and focused his attention on trade market.
There are a quite a few items present in the trade market, Max scrolled the market and found most of the items are blueprints of stools, bench, cups, and other daily use items blueprints.
During his search, he found one seller has hung wooden oars blueprint for 100 wooden logs in the trade market and found that the there are many who were chatting with him the trade section bullet chat to decrease the price of the blueprint.
The owner of the blueprint disagreed but insisted that the blueprint was worth the price, as it wasn't a one-time use blueprint and could be used to create the item repeatedly.
Max who saw the chat tried to bargain but he the owner was adamant on the price and so Max selected 100 logs and traded for the blueprint.
After receiving the blueprint, Max discovered that each oar could be crafted using 5 logs, along with supporting beams to secure them to the raft. This setup would prevent the oars from drifting into the ocean when Max isn't paying attention.
Max used 10 logs to craft two oars, attaching them to both sides of the raft. He then rowed them in a steady rhythm, causing the raft to move forward slowly.
Now Max has the ability to travel long distances, unlike before when he had to rest to recover his spirit or mana before moving again. He can also tap into his spirit or soul energy, or mana, during emergencies.
Max crafted numerous sets of oars and listed them in the trade market for six pieces of wood logs per oar. He aimed to avoid criticism from the community for overpricing them. He also doubted that others lacked a copy of the oars blueprint since it was only of white quality, not a rare one. This explained why the previous owner of the blueprint had no hesitation in selling it at a premium price.
As soon as the oars were listed in the trade market, Max received a notification confirming the transaction was completed, and the wood was deposited into his inventory.
Soon all the trade deals were completed, and Max didn't try making more and put them on the market as he has gained enough popularity in the market with oars and those whose need them will now mail him personally to complete the transactions.
This will prevent him from making additional oars beyond the required market size results in loss of materials.
As Max thought, as soon the product was out of sale in the market, Max received mails asking him to produce and keep stocking them in the market for sale.
To play it safe, Max crafted only 10 sets of oars and placed them in his shop at the market, where they sold like hotcakes, adding wood logs to his inventory.
Noticing the wood piling up in his inventory, which had already surpassed the 1000-mark, Max decided to use some of it to upgrade the raft while keeping a portion aside for producing more oars.
Upgrading his raft to level 2 required him to provide 200 wooden logs to the system. The logs were selected by Max, and the system converted the wood in the inventory into light particles, which were then merged into the raft. While the length of the raft remained the same, its durability increased to 200 points, along with improved sturdiness and buoyancy.
The upgrading of level 3 raft required him to provide 300 logs, as he has enough logs to upgrade, Max didn't feel pained immediately clicked to upgrade and the raft upgraded to level3 with durability of 300.
He realized he needed 400 wooden logs to upgrade the raft to level 4. Max hesitated for a moment before pressing the upgrade button, turning his raft into a level 4 vessel with a durability of 400.
Now Max has only 200 to 300 pieces of wood left in his inventory, but the level 5 raft requires 500. He closed the upgrade interface and started searching for wood floating in the ocean or hidden in treasure chests, while also crafting wooden oars to sell in the market.
