Scene 1 – Tuesdays Are for Time Travel (Apparently)
It was Tuesday morning. A chill ran through the air. My math teacher had just quit via karaoke. Someone's familiar exploded. And for once, I dared to hope things might calm down.
That's when the loudspeaker screamed:
🎤 "Please welcome guest speaker and international legend: Kai Enso the Eternal Note!" 🎤
I dropped my pencil. Lilith dropped her coffee. Sayuri narrowed her eyes like she was ready to stab the cosmos.
And Mizuki, my stepmom, burst into the classroom.
"Kazuki, darling," she said, dramatically flipping her hair, "my ex-boyfriend is here."
I blinked. "Why?"
She sighed. "To reclaim his glory, serenade the school, and… possibly murder you."
"…Why me?"
She looked away. "He might've heard about the pageant."
"Oh, so this is about my crown again—"
"And," she added, "he may have seen the fan art I commissioned of you wearing it. Shirtless. Riding a unicorn."
Sayuri muttered, "I knew those posters weren't student made."
Scene 2 – Enter: Kai Enso (The Drama Prince of 2067)
The auditorium exploded with fog, glitter, and auto-tuned lightning.
From the smoke emerged a tall figure in futuristic leather, with eyes like starlight and hair that defied all logic and gravity.
"Greetings, Earth mortals," he said, microphone glowing.
"I have returned from the year 2067 to reclaim what's mine… and destroy what threatens it."
Kazuki, internally: Please don't let that be me please don't let that be me—
He pointed at me.
"You."
"Yup. That's me," I sighed.
Scene 3 – The Lunchroom Duel
Turns out, in the future, rivalries are settled via singing duels inside floating bubble stages.
Students crowded around the cafeteria, betting tokens and enchanted coupons. Kai Enso floated above the mashed potato fountain, tuning his laser mic.
I stood across from him holding… a karaoke machine Mizuki shoved into my hands.
"You can do this!" she cheered. "Remember, you're genetically 1/8th disco witch!"
"That explains nothing!"
Lilith leaned in. "Just sing something relatable. Something real."
I grabbed the mic.
And screamed the chorus of "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go."
Magical sparks flew.
Sayuri's dagger melted.
Kai's eyes narrowed.
He countered with a haunting, operatic K-pop ballad that aged three teachers into dust.
Scene 4 – The Confession that Broke the School
After three rounds, I was losing. Barely holding on. My hair was frizzed. My voice cracked like shattered glass.
Then Kai pulled out his final move.
He turned to the crowd, took a knee, and said:
"I never stopped loving you, Mizuki. I time-traveled through five timelines to say this."
The school gasped.
So did Mizuki.
So did I.
Because then he added:
"But now I see… your heart belongs to your beautiful, chaotic stepson."
SCREEEEECH.
"What?!" I shrieked, spitting soda.
Lilith choked on her popcorn.
Sayuri instantly pulled out both daggers.
Ayaka fainted in the hallway.
"I—WHAT—WHY—HUH?!"
Kai smiled serenely.
"You stole the crown. The spotlight. Her affection. Now… I challenge you to a final battle."
Scene 5 – Dueling in the Gym of Broken Dreams
It wasn't a normal duel.
It was a Magical Musical Showdown of Emotional Vulnerability.
Rules: Each person sings their truest feeling. Loser explodes into glitter. (Don't ask. Magical law is weird.)
Kai opened with a haunting melody about lost love, solar flares, and broken dreams atop moonlight stages. He floated. He sparkled. The gym literally wept.
Then it was my turn.
I stepped forward.
Took a deep breath.
And shouted:
🎶 "I just wanted to pass math and eat waffles, but now I'm in love triangles with assassins, angels, and my STEPMOM IS TOO HOT—" 🎶
The building shook. The ceiling cracked. Several birds outside exploded.
Then…
Silence.
Scene 6 – The Aftermath
Kai Enso stood there, stunned.
Then he whispered, "Your rawness… your terrible vocals… your emotional chaos…"
A single tear fell down his perfect cheek.
"You win."
And with that, he snapped his fingers… and vanished into a swirl of glitter and future vibes.
The students erupted into applause.
Lilith hugged me and screamed, "YOU ABSOLUTE WEIRDO!"
Sayuri sheathed her daggers. "You lived. Barely."
Mizuki sighed dreamily. "Ah, youth."
Scene 7 – Detention (Because Somehow This Was My Fault)
Principal Tanaka stared at me.
"You destroyed the gym floor. Again."
"I was emotionally coerced into battle by a K-pop demigod."
She stared longer.
"Fair," she said. "But you still have to clean the glitter out of the air ducts."
