Citadel of Dreams: Within the Enchanted Halls of the Royal Capital (Part 11)

Later on, the King's curiosity was piqued, and he decided it was time to hear the intricate tale of how I had arrived in their realm. As I recounted my adventure with meticulous detail, I left no room for doubt, ensuring that every aspect of my journey was laid bare. I described the unintentional flight, the discovery of the unconscious girl on the hill, and my impulsive decision to use the healing potion to mend her.

With a firm resolve, I presented the evidence that would validate my account—testimonies from townspeople who had witnessed my presence during that pivotal moment. Yet, just as I believed my explanation was unfolding seamlessly, King Alaric interjected, his scrutinizing gaze revealing his skepticism.

"Hold a moment. If this girl had indeed fallen from a cliff, how do you explain her miraculously unscathed condition?" King Alaric added.

His spontaneous question caught me off guard, leaving me grappling for an explanation. Just as I began to fumble over my words, Loria stepped in to my defense, asserting that I had employed an invaluable healing potion to mend her injuries.

"Yes, Father, he's telling the truth. He used a rare and potent healing potion on me." Loria tried to back me up.

"But, my dear, only the highly prized Arcane Vitality Elixir can mend internal injuries. It's a potion of immense value." Queen Seraphina added her curiosity.

Caught in a web of half-truths, I stammered as I tried to regain my footing. Searching for a plausible explanation, I attributed my possession of the elixir to a favor from Doctor Asvin Wing, hinting at a past debt that had compelled him to provide me with such a precious resource. I explained my relationship with Dr. Asvin and hoping they would not detect my lie.

"Ah, I see. So, it seems my reckless daughter owes you not just her life but also a significant debt. You've managed to silence my skepticism. I find myself at a loss for words." King Alaric took my word as he believed my story.

Loria's gentle laughter and a bittersweet smile revealed the weight she had taken upon herself to protect my secret. It was at that moment that I realized her trustworthiness, and a newfound bond of trust began to form between us.

Suddenly, I could hear Loria's thoughts as she said, "Please god, I hope this is over now" I was speechless when I heard her voice crystal clear in my head.

…

"I see. So, you were merely in the right place at the right time." King Alaric concluded that there is no suspicion for me anymore. They both seemed to understand what had happened and feel sorry and mad at the same time for what their daughter had done.

"Our daughter's well-being is our utmost concern, and we are truly grateful for your assistance." The queen thanked me again.

"I'm glad I could be of help, Your Majesties. Loria is a spirited and brave young girl. It was my honor to ensure her safety." I politely replied.

The King then asked his daughter to thank me herself.

Loria giggles in happiness. "Thank you, um... What's your name again?"

"My name is Oruvan, Your Highness." I bowed down to her.

"Oruvan? Thank you, Oruvan. Do you… want to be my friend?" Loria added a sudden question.

With the presence of the King and Queen in front of me, "How could I reject her offer," a thought sounded in my mind. Her innocent enthusiasm warmed my heart, and I smiled at her.

"Of course, your highness. I would be honored to be your friend."

"It seems you've won our daughter's approval. I must admit, I misjudged the situation." King Alaric looks happy when looking at her daughter being embarrassed.

"Yes, it appears we owe you an apology for our suspicions." The queen added.

"No need for apologies, Your Majesties. I understand the need to ensure your daughter's safety. Precautions must be taken. I'm just relieved that she's unharmed." I reply modestly.

As the tension in the room dissolved, the atmosphere became more relaxed. Loria's presence was indeed charming, and her genuine curiosity about me made me feel welcomed.

"Well then, Oruvan, since you have proven your intentions are noble, perhaps you could come to the palace anytime if you want to meet with Loria. We would like to offer you our hospitality and gratitude properly." The King gives me permission to visit here anytime I want.

"If you may, why don't you join us for dinner?" The Queen invited me.

"I appreciate your offer, Your Majesty. But I had someone waiting for me."

"Your determination is commendable, Oruvan. Please know that our doors are always open to you should you ever wish to return." She understood and offered me dinner next time.

"Thank you, Queen Seraphina. Your kindness means a lot to me."

Loria smiles happily. "I hope we meet again someday, Oruvan."

"I hope so too, your highness. Stay safe and keep being brave." I bid her farewell to go home.

As I left the palace that day, I carried with me not only the gratitude of the King and Queen but also the warm memory of Loria's friendship. The path ahead was still uncertain, but I knew that the connections I was making in this world would shape my journey in unexpected ways.

As there is my brother at the nursery, I feel an urge to take him back as soon as possible because I made a promise with him.

…

I immediately departed and returned back to Elijah who was seemingly happy with his new friends. I can't believe that he got so much attention from the girl and he noticed me from afar while waving his hand to me.

That day, I made another step to save my parents. I hope they can stay a little longer before I come to rescue them.

"Soon, I will meet you guys!"

With the gratitude of the royal family and the newfound bond with Loria, I left the palace grounds that day with a mixture of emotions. The weight of responsibility and purpose continued to guide my steps as I ventured forward in this fantastical realm.
