A splendid day graced us with its presence, casting a luminous glow upon our surroundings. True to our routine, Jake and I savored a delightful breakfast together, indulging in both food and conversation.

As the morning conversation meandered, Jake inquired about my recent stroll through the bustling capital. With a hint of excitement, I recounted the experience, corroborated by Elijah's animated agreement. "Indeed, the day was a splendid adventure," Elijah chimed in, his eyes sparkling with the memory of delectable treats and playful moments at the park.

Innocently, Elijah's enthusiasm led him to inquire about revisiting his newfound friend from the previous day – a friend he had made during his time at the nursery home. Jake, ever the attentive listener, caught this slip and playfully remarked, "Already making friends, I see."

Recognizing the need to steer the conversation away from a potential inadvertent reveal, I interjected with a chuckle, affirming the presence of new acquaintances. However, seizing the opportunity before the tale unfolded further, I smoothly transitioned the dialogue, "Speaking of friends, there's something I've been meaning to share with you. I may need your help with something."

Our dialogue continued beyond the confines of our breakfast nook, as we settled into the comfort of the living room. Seizing the opportune moment, I broached the subject with Jake, detailing the favor I required of him.

"Jake, there's something I must ask for your assistance with. Could you help me find a suitable place for Eli and me to reside?" I asked him.

Jake's brows furrowed with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"Why would you need to move? Can't you extend your stay here?" He asked.

I revealed my intention gently, crafting a story that would lend credence to our quest for a new abode. "Indeed, we could extend our stay here, but I'm thinking of finding a more permanent dwelling for our family. Somewhere beyond the city, perhaps in the forest."

Understanding his need to know more, Jake posed a condition, his gaze fixed on mine, revealing both a request and an offer.

"I'm more than willing to help, on one condition." He said.

I regarded him with a mixture of curiosity and openness, ready to listen and engage.

I asked, "What is it?" 

Jake's words carried a weight that hinted at a past unspoken bond between us. "Allow me to purchase the house for you. Let me repay the debt I owe you, the debt of saving my life."

I hesitated, grappling with the idea of accepting such a substantial gesture.

"Jake, that's quite an undertaking. I can't impose that burden on you. Besides, the cost of homes in the capital is exorbitant due to market demand and the potential for business opportunities. It could easily amount to 500 stelladam." I offered a perspective rooted in the reality of the capital's housing market, where prices soared due to the city's centrality and economic prospects.

Jake, however, dismissed financial concerns with a heartfelt plea that spoke of something more valuable than money.

"When compared to my life, the cost is inconsequential. Please, I beg you." Jake begged me.

My exhalation carried a mixture of resignation and agreement.

I sighed "Fine. But promise me you'll choose the cheapest one. I can't accept this without a sense of humility. You've already done so much for us."

Jake's response was swift and embraced a newfound camaraderie.

"Deal! Thank you, my little brother." His gratitude found expression in a spontaneous hug, his warmth offering a sense of shared purpose and friendship.

In a world where only a select few were privy to my unique abilities, I appreciated Jake's promise to safeguard my secret, a promise forged when I confided in him and Asvin about my elemental manipulation powers. Entrusting Jake with this responsibility lightened my load, aligning with my plans.

Placing the task in Jake's capable hands has alleviated my concerns, knowing he had the resources and connections to facilitate the search promptly. As a royal duke, acquiring a suitable residence held little challenge. He vowed to deliver his findings by evening, a reminder of his determination and dedication to our cause.
