Serendipitous Nexus: The Fateful Encounter (Part 3)

In the dimly lit chamber illuminated only by a flickering torch, I conjured flames with my magic, dispelling the darkness. The sight of the imprisoned figures sent shivers down my spine. Amidst the various criminals confined here, my parents remained elusive. My heartbeat quickened as I ventured forward, whispering their names in a hushed tone.

"Mom… Dad. Where are you?"

The clamor of voices from the cells was disorienting. Hands reached out between iron bars, seeking contact. I treated cautiously, avoiding their grasps while scanning for familiar faces, my heart heavy with a mix of trepidation and determination. Amidst the tumult, I needed to discern my parents and reunite our family, all while avoiding the clutching hands that reached out in desperation.

Filled with gratitude for my unique ability to see in the dark, I moved along the line of cages. Amid the chorus of voices, a familiar voice called out, quivering with recognition.

"Oruvan! Is that you?" I knew that voice, the timbre of my father's tone was unmistakable. As I turned toward the sound, my parents reached out to me, their arms enveloping me in a heartfelt embrace.

"How can this be happening? It's impossible." Arthur was in disbelief.

Wiping my own tears away, I steadied myself.

"It's a long story. I'm just relieved you both are still alive." I told them.

"How have you been, my son?" My mother asked while gently hugging me.

"I'm fine. Elijah is too. We're living in the capital now." I reassured them.

"That's wonderful. We've missed you both terribly." Arthur couldn't hold his tears.

Emotion overwhelmed my mother, her tears flowing freely as she buried her face in my father's chest. The joy of seeing me and knowing that Elijah was safe warmed their hearts.

I realized there is no time to waste. I have to ask them to get out of here with me.

"Father, Mother, I need you both to come with me. Let's escape from here!"

"No Oruvan. We can't do that. You have to wait for us for another 3 years for us to be released. It won't be long." My father rejected my offer.

"That's right. We will get out of here in 5 years. There Are 3 years left. You can do that for us, right? Let's be patient together." Jessica reaffirms the situation.

"What?! You can't be serious. Are you seriously going to commit something you haven't done?"

"Calm down son. It's better this way. Later, they don't have to disturb us again. We can live happily again." My father exclaimed.

"Don't tell me to calm down! I already promised Elijah to bring you guys home.you have no idea how we have lived so far without you! We… We need our parents!"

"We know, we really understand you. But we can't afford to fight against the kingdom. We don't have our permit to live here, in this country. We can't run for our whole life." My mother sighed.

I figured the problem is the birth certificate and our identification card to be resident in the Altyzurian Kingdom.

"Then I will make you one." I try to persuade them.

"What? How are you gonna do that?" My father questioned.

They both look at each other. Arthur nodded to Jessica like he understood something needed to be revealed, this is the right time. They can't hide it any longer.

"Oruvan, listen to us. To get the official certificate, they will send us for a test to identify our identity." Arthur tries to explain something.

"Before that, there is something that you need to know." Mother added.

"The truth is… we are not human, son." Arthur tells with disappointment.

They all looked down and felt depressed.

"I'm from the goddess clan and your father is… a demon." mother added.

They all stared at me wondering how I would react.

"Well, I… uh, already know." Their disbelief was evident.

"What? Since when?" Father was shocked.

Mother chuckled, "I knew you'd catch on."

Father also started to understand, "Afterall, you are our son."

I smiled at them. "It was rather obvious. Besides, I'm your son. I can sense what you've kept hidden."

Father sighed "We can't hide anything from you, can we? Given how we ended up here, I suppose anything's possible."

Yet, a lingering unease clouded my mind.

"Even if you wait and serve out your sentence, won't they still require you to take up for the test to issue a new certificate? How will you manage that?"

Arthur and Jessica exchanged glances, their realization dawning as they are at the same end. They regret thinking it is still the same and the human will still find out the truth.

"You're right! Once we're subjected to a bloodline test, our secret will be revealed to the humans."

Jessica's disappointment mirrored the oversight.

"That's it!". I have my own thoughts in mind as I get an idea.

Jessica was discouraged for not thinking that much. They only thought they could get away from here after free from the prison.

As I already have my plan, I will take care of it.

"Don't worry. I've got an idea." I told them.

Their attention was fully focused on me as I unveiled my strategy to secure their freedom. I emphasized that they must behave impeccably during their time in prison, assuring them that I would return soon. As my parents took solace in my words, I embraced them once more before departing, leaving my heart aching as I left them behind to fulfill my mission.

I gave them another hug before I left.

It really hurt my feelings as it tore my heart apart to leave my parents at that place. But I have something to do first.
