Staylie’s case had been settled by Karel. He hired a lawyer to sue her ex-boyfriend, Roland, for compensation regarding everything he had taken from her. The court proceedings went on step by step, and Roland had already been arrested at his residence in Surabaya. Now, he was in jail during the trial process—mainly because of his own doing. He refused to admit his guilt, even though the evidence was solid and undeniable.
“Ahem,” Staylie accidentally ran into Karel—who was heading out for work—from the hotel lobby.
“Mr. Karel,” she called out, grabbing his wrist to stop him.
Karel automatically stopped in his tracks and turned slowly toward her.
“Oh, Staylie,” Karel was a little startled when he saw who had stopped him. “What’s wrong? Do you need something from me?” he asked directly.
