"He must not die at our hands."

Obito said calmly as he walked forward, the rain outside the cave muffled by the rock.

"It's so troublesome... Anyway, you don't plan to resurrect Madara, or you can just go and snatch the Rinnegan from him." White Zetsu followed behind Obito, complaining without pause.

Obito glanced back, expression neutral.

"My eyes are pretty good right now, and I have no plans to replace them for the time being."

'That useless Rinnegan in exchange for the most OP Mangekyo Sharingan ability in Naruto? No thanks buddy,' Obito shook his head and thought to himself.

Plus, he had other reasons too...he couldn't freely go all out with his plans yet.

Not with that guy still around.

""Moreover, collecting Tailed Beasts is a hassle, and it takes a lot of time and chakra to seal them. So it'd be too troublesome for me to be alone."

Obito's tone changed into something playful and amused.

"So, we find a tool man. Fool Nagato into building a team, let them do all the dirty work… and when they're done collecting the beasts, we swoop in and enjoy the fruits of their labor."

"Moreover, those eyes will come into my hands sooner or later. Nagato won't hold on to the end, and I'll let him live until that time." Obito narrowed his gaze.

"Well, I'll have to listen to you anyway," White Zetsu shrugged, used to this madness by now.

---

Not long after, Obito and Zetsu entered the cave.

The sound of rain softened behind them as three figures turned their heads, instantly on alert.

"Who are you?" Yahiko asked sharply...his eyes scanning the man Infront of him.

The tension was thick enough.

Obito stepped forward calmly.

Then, as if dropping the curtain on a performance, he calmly pulled back his hood.

"Uchiha… Madara."

'Shit, I almost laughed...how the hell did Obito keep a straight face in the anime? Man, we both really have a talent for bullshitting.'

"Madara Uchiha?!"

The three of them looked shocked, eyes flickering between each other.

But Yahiko wasn't buying it. Then, after spotting the scarlet glow behind the mask's eyehole, he quickly regained his guard and scoffed coldly.

"If you dare to call yourself Madara Uchiha, should I say that you're a criminal or an idiot?"

'Fuck you, orange.'

"What's your purpose in approaching us?"

'Fucking Konan, of course.'

"My purpose… it's very simple."

Obito looked directly into Nagato's eyes.

"For the sake of the Eye of the Sage of Six Paths. Giving the right leadership to those who open the Rinnegan is what I'm here for."

Nagato's voice broke the silence:

"You… know about my eyes?"

Obito didn't hesitate.

"These eyes are called the Rinnegan...the eyes that control life and death. And on this planet, the last person who possessed them was called the Sage of the Six Paths."

Obito unhurriedly delivered the speech, hyping up the damn Rinnegan like it was Nagato's birthright, making the boy feel all special and chosen.

"You are the second person on this planet to have these eyes. You can think of yourself as the reincarnation of the will of the Sage of Six Paths, or you can consider yourself the second Sage himself."

"The Sage of Six Paths?!"

All three of them were slightly shaken. Even Konan narrowed her eyes slightly.

Obito nodded.

"Yes. A thousand years ago, he quelled war and brought peace to the world."

"Though… that peace didn't last long."

He kept his voice serious as he spoke to the three of them.

"Why didn't the peace brought by the Six Paths last?"

Yahiko asked, his face serious, as if he understood a single goddamn thing.

'You think you deserve any of this knowledge… man, know your place as a side character, orange juice.'

Obito's response was sharp and decisive.

"Quite simply, where there is light, there must be shadows. And as long as there is the concept of winners, there are also losers."

"In the absence of absolute power as a deterrent, the self-interested will to maintain peace is bound to lead to war."

"Because as long as you are human, you will have selfishness."

"And as long as there are people, there will be their own interests. And everyone's interests are their own selfishness."

"When people have conflicting interests... war is inevitable."

"After the death of the Sage of Six Paths, there was no absolute force to suppress it. And people's selfishness began to be infinitely magnified."

"People began to invade others to gain more… and protect themselves from being invaded."

"Conflict wasn't just inevitable. It became natural."

Obito's voice fell to a low, final note.

"That's the truth of the world."

He raised his hand slightly.

"But you...Nagato, with the second pair of Rinnegan in this world...are expected to become the second Sage of Six Paths. You have the potential to sweep away all wars and create a peaceful world again."

Nagato's mouth opened slightly.

"I…"

"This can't be!"

Just as Nagato hesitated, Yahiko suddenly stepped forward and blocked in front of him.

"Do you want Nagato to use force to suppress all countries?!"

"That will only bring more hatred and start a bigger war!"

"Do you want to take advantage of us?!"

Yahiko snapped, his voice echoing through the cave.

"Only by understanding the suffering of others and making the perpetrators shed the same tears can we get closer to a true, peaceful world!"

"Shedding the same tears? Are you talking about revenge?"

Obito's voice was calm, but behind the mask, his expression twisted into something halfway between amused and disgusted.

"No, it's not," Yahiko quickly denied.

"I mean mutual understanding!"

"Huh~..."

Obito couldn't help it. He laughed.

A real one.

'Man... this bitch makes me sick af. Should I just Kamui him out of existence? Or maybe just cut his hands and legs and fuck Konan in front of him?'

'But too bad I don't have that fetish... so rejoice, orange boy.'

According to Yahiko's theory, all it took was for the attacker to see the damage they caused, shed a few tears, and suddenly they'd find empathy and peace would magically appear.

It was...

Fucking hilarious.

"It's naïve. Are you dreaming? There's no way such a world exists."

Obito shook his head.

Naivety... especially in a world like this was worse than weakness. It was practically a suicide note.

Yahiko frowned deeply. Then, without another word, he turned around and started walking toward the exit of the cave.

"Let's go, Konan. Nagato. We can't trust them."

'This guy's just salty he's not the one with the Rinnegan,' Obito thought darkly, watching Yahiko's back.

As Yahiko passed by, he threw out one last line.

"Don't come near us again."

Then Nagato passed.

And as he did, Obito spoke... quiet, like a whisper meant for a future nightmare.

"Someday, you'll understand. I'll come back to you when you're truly desperate."

Nagato's body paused slightly but he didn't turn around.

He just kept walking.

A moment later, all three disappeared into the rain.

"They won't be easily convinced."

White Zetsu sighed beside him.

"Of course it won't be that easy. The orange-haired guy's a naïve idealist, but he still has that leader charisma."

Obito stood still, arms crossed.

"And Nagato? He's been drawn to that light. Yahiko is the god in his heart. His words shape Nagato's entire world."

"So what now? Should we just kill him?" Zetsu asked.

"Of course. But not by our hands."

"Then who?"

"The boss of this country."

"That… what's his name again?"

White Zetsu scratched his head.

"Hanzo. This guy's old now. His vision's not what it used to be, and he won't tolerate any rising force in his land that's not under his control."

Obito's tone grew cold and indifferent.

"All it takes is a little push. Stir the fire just right, and he'll take action."

"When the time comes... when Nagato watches the god in his heart die in front of him, he'll finally be broken."

"Then, and only then, will he be useful to us."

Obito turned toward the mouth of the cave.

"Leave a few clones here to keep an eye on them. The second Hanzo makes contact, inform me immediately."

"Understood!" Zetsu nodded.

"Then let's move out."

The air around them began to ripple and twist.

"Where are we going next?"

Obito's voice echoed one last time before the distortion swallowed them.

"Mist Hidden Village."

And just like that, Obito and White Zetsu vanished from the cave.
