Listen, fellow future reader, this story does not waste time showing you what kind of world Riven Veyr was born into. Shattered Sanity starts dark, brutal, and emotionally heavy, but that is exactly what makes it gripping. Riven’s backstory is painful to read because you can feel how every moment is carving him into something dangerous. He is not written like a typical "chosen-one hero." He is a child born with nothing, forced to remember everything, and slowly shaped by a world that refuses to let him stay human. What really hooked me was the idea of his perfect memory. For most characters, time would dull the pain. For Riven, every loss, every scream, and every cruel moment stays fresh. That makes his future as “The Laughing Calamity” feel less like a random power fantasy and more like the creation of a monster the world made with its own hands. This is definitely not a light read. It is grim, violent, and disturbing, so readers should know what they are getting into. But if you like dark fantasy with trauma, revenge, survival, and a main character who feels like he could become either a legend or a nightmare, this story has a strong hook. I came for the fantasy setting, but I stayed because I wanted to see what Riven becomes.

If you guys thought Warma was the only writer here with crazy dark stories, you are in for a treat with Shattered Sanity. Riven's story is brutal and intense, yet also unbelievably loaded with emotions. My boy Raj is on fire.

Great story, it doesn't hold back interms of brutality and I like the fact that the mc's backstory is dark enough to justify whatever monster he inevitably becomes. I hope this story continues to be as dark and brutal as it currently is because not a lot a stories do that ( they either tone it down as a result of some people saying its too much or they make the mc into someone whose only act as a villain is something he did back in chapter 6) I don't see the story falling into any of the above categories because I don't see the author changing the brutality of the story considering what he wrote in the synopsis, and the mc definitely won't suddenly become some softy, I can only see him becoming more of a monster as the story progresses due to the world he is in. it's a great story that may not be everyone's cup of tea but it's got everything I need from a story It's a great story that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's got everything I need from a story.
While some of the elements of my review await to be seen, Raj continues to impress with anoth great theme and storywriting thus far. i look forward to the developments of this novel.
Got to read the sneak peek a few weeks back and I must say this is already shaping up to be his best work yet. Something I, and everyone else should, appreciate is that Raj gets better and better with every book he writes. This is a bit darker of a book so if you are looking for you’re typical edgy or simp MC, you won’t find that here. Might be to early to say it, but this book will definitely be 5 stars and one of the top novels on this site.
Amazing backstory and start to a dark fantasy by one of my favourite writers. Really interested to see where you go with this and can't wait to read more of Riven's journey.
A dark fantasy from an author that has always delivered. Easiest five stars I have ever given. PS, the writing has an emotional and grim tone to it. The introduction was really good :)
This book would probably be a New York Times best seller if it was properly edited and slightly polished. It’s a great story, decently written with a great sense of realism. You feel for the characters, sense the harshness of the world and can truly feel yourself rooting for the main character. This is an undeniable gem.
Extremely hard, hell, damn near impossible to find new novels on this app which are ANYWHERE close to as good as this. Must read.
