New Beginning(Remake)

Inside a seemingly normal forest, a weak breeze passes by hitting an unconscious youth's face. His closed eyes quivered and slowly opened before he stood up shakily, one hand on his temple.

After feeling dizzy for a while, Adam recovered his senses and asked out loud.

"Where the hell am I?" He started looking around. This place was completely unfamiliar.

"A forest?" He noticed the trees and lush green around him. The trees were way taller than the height Adam was used to, and there were countless noises of animals and insects coming from everywhere. He felt like he got dumped inside an uninhabited forest somewhere.

His head was swirling with questions, like where is he, why is he here, etc. Adam suddenly felt a headache and memories of what happened came back to him. He held his head in pain.

"So I died huh..." His hands weakly drooped down as he remembered everything. He was on a trip with his family, the mood was joyful and they were all joking around and having fun when suddenly, his father had a panicked look on his face and screamed something.

All he could remember after that was unbearable pain and everything fading to black.

His name was Adam Walker, a normal high school boy with a relatively normal family. He intended to walk around to check where he was, but a cold mechanical voice startled him just as he took a single step forward.

[Mage System starting...]

[Congratulations on being the first host of the mage system.]

"Huh!?" Adam almost fell down, his eyes widening in surprise. After a slight shock, he said:

"A system, seriously...?" He started wondering if he truly died or was in a dream. Or maybe he was just going crazy. Had schizophrenia finally gotten to him?

"System, where am I?" He decided to not care about that for now.

[Host is in the Azure Sky continent, Year 211 of the New Calendar, inside Shabu Forest's outskirts near Red Jade City.]

"It's really another world." Adam smiled wryly as he accepted reality.

'No, wait, why am I accepting things so easily?' He suddenly realized. His entire family is probably dead and he was suddenly taken to another world in a development he has only ever seen happening in novels. How is he being so acceptive of things?

"System did you do something to me?" He asked in a frantic tone of voice.

[The system has modified the host's emotions a little bit so the host deals with the shock and accepts reality better.]

"Hmmm.." Although the system modifying his emotions enraged and scared him, he chose to not complain for now. It would indeed be problematic if he just stood here confused inside this dangerous forest out of his emotions being in disarray.

Besides, he has no one in his past world he cares about to the extent of wanting to go back immediately anyway. The only ones he cared about that much died in the car accident, so why not enjoy this "vacation".

Adam did not realize that he was not feeling the sadness or shock he was supposed to feel towards his family's death. His reaction was also very abnormal, he was feeling way less rage and fear than an average person like him should feel towards an unknown entity manipulating their emotions.

'Hmm, my body has not changed, not even my clothes.' He inspected his own body and found out nothing was different.

He suddenly remembered something he had seen in countless system novels and wanted to try it out.

"System can you show my status?" A game-like virtual screen appeared in front of him. He was a bit amazed.

"Wow."

"How do I rank up?" Adam asked after looking at his status.

Adam had no patience nor time to meditate for now and he didn't have any spells so he asked:

"What...."missions" are available?"
