The next two days Adam was crazily hunting for Soul Shards, once he got into the city it would not be that easy to get them anymore so he had to stock up on them.
Moreover, after two nights he had amassed a total of 68 Soul Shards he was finally able to upgrade himself once more and that meant, of course …pain.
Adam sighed inwardly.
Nonetheless, he has to stick through.
"Yo, Oblisey in sight." Adam heard a voice and woke up, lifting his hand against the sun to relieve his eyes from the strain.
Waking up and looking around himself, he saw many carts and carriages passing by, apparently he was able to sleep during the noise from the wheels hitting the road.
"Already? I thought it would take more time." He said as he observed the lush green surroundings and finally turning around to look at the city.
A tall, seemingly solid and most importantly wide wall stood behind a large field of low grass, there were many watchtowers spread evenly across the whole wall.
In the middle of the facade appeared a wide-open gate with watchtowers on both sides inside the gate and guards standing on a roofed way across the wall.
"We're about to enter." Remarked Eliezer.
He stopped right in front of the gate and a guard approached them.
"Identification!" the guard demanded.
Adam scrutinized the guard; it was a tall disciplined looking male, probably in his thirties.
He wore a complete leather armor under parts of metal armor acting as a breastplate, leg protectors, shoulder guards, back plate, boots, and helmet.
In his hands he held a spear and equipped on his waist was a short sword waiting in a scabbard.
The guard somehow resembled a Roman legionnaire from the movies and videos about the Roman army.
Looking at him carefully and comparing himself to the guard, Adam thought inwardly.
'If it came to raw strength I could probably outmatch him easily, but it looks like his strength lies and technique and martial arts, if that's the case I would probably not be able to fight that well against him.'
Eliezer took out some sort of badge and show it to the guard to which he nodded and waved for Eliezer to pass through to which Eliezer abided.
"What was that badge, which you showed the guard?"
"Right, right, I forgot to tell ya that's like your Identification to which organization ya belong, organizations can be any grouping, including sects or business groups."
"So it basically shows who I am affiliated with, so the other party has an idea of how much they can trust me, right?"
"Yup, but there also different grades of badges within an organization. It's best ya go looking for the information center in the town to get your own badge."
"Anything else I need to consider?"
"Not really, I mean the rest is self-explanatory."
"Got you, Is there a place where I can find you?"
"I'll probably be leavin' in a few days' time. Ya do not have any money, right?"
"Yup."
Eliezer took something out of a bag "Here, take it, you can see it as a loan" he discretely handed Adam a string of coins and smiled.
"I really don't know how to thank you; you've helped me out so much," Adam said sincerely as he gave Eliezer a hug.
"No need to thank me, you'll have a whole life before you, I'm already aging," Eliezer responded humbly.
"Really, thank you so much!"
They both knew that what they were saying was a complete theatre act, although they somewhat felt that way it was completely different.
Eliezer knew that Adam had no money and it would be awkward if he did not help him in that aspect, after all, he already brought him here and he just wanted to support him and maybe get something in return later in life when Adam had more power.
Of course, he already had his suspicions about Adam, being able to get a wild animal every day without a sign of sweat and being full of energy every single day showed Eliezer that Adam wasn't that simple, after all, who had such abilities that they could display casually.
Adam had to belong to something powerful, it is just a shame that his memory was erased so he did not know to whom Adam belonged to.
He would only use a couple of silver coins and the profits could be quite nice so he used this opportunity to build up a good relationship with Adam.
He also had nothing to fear about potential enemies of Adam, he was just an old man and nothing to be scared of and he and Adam only have short interactions, so Adam could not come running to him when he was being pursued or in a bad spot.
Adam knowing of Eliezer's intentions to set up a friendly relationship did not deny, of course, he needed the money and the nice words were just for flattering and accepting the kind intentions.
After they went separate ways, Adam made plans for himself:
1. Find Inn
2. Find information about organizations and sects within Oblisey
3. Acquire identification badge
4. Join sect
The first two points are obvious but for the third and the last point he had to decide, which organization to join and find out if he could even join a sect, otherwise, he would work as a mercenary in some merchant caravan or something like that.
