Reset Your Scales

"Who are you?" Syr asked feigning being relaxed.

Originally he only sensed one of the two he didn't even hear any footsteps for the second one like he was walking on air.

The shorter one of the two cloaked figures ran over to Azreal he stood there stunned, he didn't even take a second foot forward.

"Uncle..."

"What is it? Is he dead?" But he received no reply from his nephew.

Walking over to where his nephew was and looking down on Azreal's body he was stunned speechless.

Looking up at Syr who he'd earlier ignored, his voice took a chilling turn.

"Why did you do this?" A simple question asked with boundless authority.

For a moment Syr actually found himself about to answer but he quickly stopped himself and smiled instead.

"You shouldn't pry into things that do not concern you," Syr said like an elder giving advice to his foolish grandson.

For a moment the man was taken aback until he realized that Syr was blind.

"You can't see so you can't understand what you've done, regardless of the reason, a servant should never raise his hand against his master, never forget this in your next life"

At first, Syr was completely relaxed since the mysterious man spoke in a casual tone containing no malice but when he heard the words he instantly went on guard.

"Thank the mother I have a previous engagement so your death will be painless"

Syr was just about to give a sly reply when he felt two hands gentle —one at the back of his head and the other under his neck— touch him, before he could move, he found himself looking directly into the eyes of the person behind him, as his strength slowly faded.

When Syr's body fell the warbeast started looking around, originally he'd thought that the reason why he felt that his strength was being siphoned was because of something Syr had done but with Syr now dead he was a bit lost.

Looking down at Azreal who's body was twitching he shook his head, it couldn't be, right? and these scythes...

Bending down he was about to pick up Azazel but pulled back his hand before he touched it, the sinister aura made his skin crawl.

The younger of the two was wrapping bandages all over Azreal's body, so he didn't pay much attention to his uncles actions.

"I can't do much else right now uncle..."

"It's fine, if he dies it's his own fault" bending down he picked up Azreal and tossed him over his shoulder.

Neither of them paid any attention to the fact that they were leaving the scythes behind.

~•~

Opening his eyes Azreal could only see hazy outlines.

Scratching his hand over his eyes he could feel a bandage, his entire body was covered in bandages.

"Hey hey don't move around so much"

Hearing the voice Azreal turned his head but he could only see a hazy outline.

"Those bandages are to help reset your scales if you take them off now the scales with only grow out how even it wants, and you'll lose your own unique pattern, well that's if you like the ones you were born with, come to think of it none of this is really that important"

Azreal just paused and looked at the hazy figure, not even sure what he should say to the ramblings.

"Hey looks like your awake" another hazy figure appeared.

Where the figure came from looked like the flap of a tent and before it closed behind him he could see outside.

It wasn't much to see but looked to be all stick stalls selling all sorts of things, and the wind that blew brought what looked to be sand in it.

One things for sure he wasn't in the forest anymore and seen as he wasn't dead and Syr was nowhere to be found, maybe these guys saved him?

"Who are you guys and where am I?"

"Oh right now you're in the mid-southern continent, I don't remember the cities name though"

"Why am I here with you guys?"

"Well, we saved you?"

"Why?"

Azreal didn't get a response instead one of the figures walked over to him and pulled off the bandages off his eyes.

Looking at the figure Azreal could see the resemblance between his current form and theirs.

'Dragon?' Previously Ahadi had called him a dragon and since these two looked exactly like him, didn't this mean they were the real deal?.

"Do you understand now?"

All Azreal could do was nod a bit surprised.

"Good, now why were you in that Forest alone and where is your guardian?"

"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm not a dragon, you have me confused with someone else"

Both dragons paused for a moment before the older one of the two walked over to Azreal and use one of his claws to create a small cut on Azreal's palm then did the same to himself.

As he put his palm closer to Azreal's the blood in both his and Azreal palm started glowing.

"Why wouldn't you think you're not a dragon is that what you were told growing up?" The older dragon asked with a smile.

Azreal, on the other hand, was still staring at the glowing blood, before he smiled a little and shook his head.

"That doesn't mean anything, I'm not from here I'm human, some crazy doctor gave me a pill and then this happened"

When they heard that both dragons laughed.

"The fact still remains you have our bloodline, the pill probably just helped to draw out what was already there"

Azreal was about to say something to retort when the younger dragon stopped him.

"The method might look simple but it's never wrong, its something that's been passed down for a long time, as for how you came by our bloodline once we get you back home you can look through the records and find your lineage"

Shaking his head Azreal changed the topic.

"Home? and where are we?"

"Back to the capital and right now we're in the mid-southern continent, my uncle told you earlier, are you still not feeling okay?" As he asked he put his hand on Azreal's forehead to check his temperature "you don't feel warm, just rest a little more, we aren't leaving this city yet so you'll be able to walk around soon"

Saying that both of them turned to leave the tent.

"We'll be back soon"

Once they left a bunch of questions that he should've asked popped in his mind.

Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes again.
