...worthless.

Mark, an officer stationed at the western police station along with his fellow members in the [Horus Division], named after the division's first leader, Horus Thyros, were rushing to the southern entrance right after receiving the order to go after their station got the distress call of a [Code 111]. They were the first police station called due to not their proximity, otherwise, the central police station would've been called first, but due to the fact that the strongest members were stationed there to deal with the ongoing nuisance known as the [Pythral Gang], a rowdy group of demons who were harassing and launching attacks at [Styrlheim] for some political reason, though the precise reason was never clarified to them. The average strength of a [Pythral Gang] member was of a [Rank 6 - Demonic Fiend], that not being the main issue due to any station's officers being capable of dealing with them, their main difficulty dealing with the [Pythral Gang] being their inability to capture a demon without having them viciously take their own life, as if possessed through any means possible, so they were never able to figure out the location of their base of operations and another reason as to why the strongest members were stationed there was also due to the strength of Pythral and his two hands, Farrel and Wrymor, all being [Rank -5 Deathbringers] with Pythral himself nearing a [Rank - 4 Demonic Ruler], a rank which was mostly attained by Demon Earls who ruled [Rank - 4 Demonic Domains], like [Styrlheim].

Nearing the southern entrance, the aura in the air intensified. All 7 members of the [Horus Division] stood, petrified in fear, shivering at the sudden change in atmosphere.

"D-do you all feel that?" Mark asked his fellow comrades in a shaky voice, hoping that it was just him feeling this abnormal atmosphere.

"Y-yeah," Lynda agreed before continuing, "d-do you think they should've sent [Shadow Squad] instead?"

"This may be a diversion done by Pythral and his gang, [Shadow Squad] needs to stay there in case they go out for an all-out attack. The Earl is also on his way, so we're really just here to ensure no civilians are hurt and that they all escape the area intact." Marcos, the current leader of the [Horus Division] spoke, before continuing forth, however, despite his seeming confidence, the rest of the squad could see his legs shivering slightly.

Knowing the task that they all agreed to and wishing to ensure no civilians ended up hurt, the other 6 steeled their resolve, clenched their fists, gritted their teeth, tried their best to stop shivering and followed their captain from behind.

Upon seeing the monstrosity before them, they all knew that they were screwed.

A creature, purplish-black in hue, whose's skin seemingly wriggled and writhed about as if worms squirming all about. It stood a sizeable 5 metres in height, two circular deep crimson orbs acted as what they presumed eyes, its head having no neck curve and what seemed to just be attached to the body. The head, grotesque with its jagged triangular teeth which appeared like a chainsaw's razors. Its body had no discernable features and the entire body was connected to the floor as if he were rising from the very floor they stood on and instead of hands, the abomination had two long clawed hands, the fingers being extremely lanky with the fingers seemingly webbed together with the same purplish-black material which dripped and dropped onto the ground than upon impact with the ground seemingly being absorbed by the ground.

Frozen in absolute terror at the hideous sight of the creature, they notice more of their surroundings. The ground around them now full of cracks, bodies laying all around of civilians and officers, it is hard to distinguish what they looked like and the only thing signifying whether or not they were an officer or civilian being the faint shimmer of the gold or silver insignia of the [Styrlheim Police Department]'s logo on the corpse. They could easily say that the body count numbered over a hundred already.

"[Code 111]. Requesting help at the southern entrance, this... abomination is too much for us to handle, requesting back up..." They heard a faint whisper. Looking around the noticed an officer hiding behind the walls of a ruined building on the phone. Unsure as to what he said but being able to guess what he was asking for, their bodies once again gained the ability to move and they began dashing to him.

After moving only two steps, the monster's claw shot forth, moving faster than they could see piercing through the wall that the officer was hiding behind and his stomach. Shocked by the sudden pain, he dropped his phone as he felt the claw leave his body.

The [Horus Division] saw the officer's body slowly slump over, his mouth faintly moving before all signs of movement ceased, the unknown officer now becoming another tally to the monster's indiscriminate killing spree.

Feeling horrified, Mark froze for just a second before the gunfire, explosions and magic spells being cast entered his ears. Looking around at the surrounding area, he saw entire platoons of officers and soldiers from the other stations and the army appearing before his eyes and soon a man, looking in his late twenties with two brown eyes, shoulder-length grey hair, covered in protective jewellery descended from the skies and landed before him and his fellow squadmates.

"Earl Isaac." Mark could only mutter before Isaac chuckled.

"Don't worry young one, this beast won't stand against the might o-" Isaac spoke, confident before being interrupted with several purplish-black chains shooting out from nowhere and shackling his wrists, ankles and neck. "What the-!?" Isaac screamed before he felt the shackled tighten and his body being dragged back.

Upon seeing that the army of demon soldiers and officers attacked the beast more fiercely in hopes to free their earl while Mark tried to use his strength to break free the earl. Using his ability to summon his partner; a sword, he attempted to cut the chains though they were unbelievably sturdy.

Hacking and slashing no matter what Mark did the shackles didn't show any sign of breaking, let alone weakening. Even with the rest of the [Horus Division] joining in trying to free the earl, there seemed to be no change in effect.

Seconds after Earl Isaac appeared, the shackles from nowhere abducted him, the earl vanishing from sight.

Shocked at the abduction of the earl, they all halted in shock, the only sound they could hear was the demonic bone-chilling laughter the beast let out.

Mark felt weak, useless even. He couldn't protect the [Earl of Styrlheim], the one he swore to protect along with the citizens of [Styrlheim] when he took up the job of an officer. He felt... worthless, staring blankly at where Earl Isaac had vanished with a blank stare, he didn't notice the weird portal appearing nearby, the youth leaving it or the claw firing itself at him.

It wasn't until he heard an explosive sound followed by a loud round of gasps of shock made by his fellow squadmates did he react and lookup.
