DevLyn in trouble

After Literature was Social Studies, the subject that Greggy teach. Sooo remember the assignment Greggy gave? If not, here's a recap. Last Monday, Greggy gave the class a pair work assignment yet both Devon and Lyn were not paying attention in class. However, they're supposed to share their discussion with the class today.

"Class, I'm sure that you have done the assignment given last Monday as today, ALL of you will have to share with the class what you and your partner discussed."

Class : *Groans and grumble*

"Now, now don't be selfish! Sharing is caring!" Greggy snapped

Oh? Greggy seems to be in a bad mood today.

Class : *Groans and grumble*

While everyone was grumbling about having to present, both Lyn and Devon stared at each other, at a loss.

"Are you really not gonna care?" Devon asked with uncertainty, a foreboding premonition swept over him

"Uhh.." Lyn hesitated, unsure. Initially, Lyn wanted to do badly as Greggy is their form teacher and determines their seating arrangement based on their grades. However, after spending some time with Devon, Lyn kinda liked interacting with him as he's the mean yet nice kind so sitting together won't make them fall in love...right? Besides, this is a graded pair work. If Lyn wanted to do badly, it will affect Devon too. She did not want to implicate him due to her personal issue.

"Let's just do after knowing the page and what we're supposed to do"

"I guess that's the only way. But if worse come to worse, let's just improvise on the spot"

"okay"

"Jack and Jill, whenever you're ready."

A/N: like Literature class, they will share in the same sequence

Jack: "so according to page 123, we found that..."

Lyn:"turn to page 123, quick!"

ignoring Jack and Jill's sharing, the pair analysed the situation shown on page 123

...

"what's there to say about this? Just humans, grass and trees" Devon lamented

10 mins later

After analysing for quite some time, the pair finally found something else to say other than "Just humans, grass and trees"

Now, back to the class presentation.

It was already Peter and Penn's sharing. However, they are sharing their discussion...not on page 123 but..49?

"Devon, I think..we're doomed. It seems that every pair is supposed to do a different page!" Lyn cried out.

Devon didn't reply, but gave a confused expression. Didn't she said not to care about Greggy's assignment? Why is she suddenly afraid?

As time passed, Devon and Lyn helplessly watch the pairs present their discussions. Well actually, just Lyn. To Devon, this assignment is nothing.

*Lyn's POV*

Ughh Lyn what's wrong with you on Monday?! Why did you tell Devon not to care about the assignment. Now his grades will drop cuz of you! Ugh I'm such a dumbass. Oh well dear god pls pls help me! Pls let every pair have the same-

Peter:"according to page 49, we found out that.."

..page

Oh noooo! Ahhh Devon I'm so sorry! Even though you're a jerk to me yesterday, we still managed to win the Literature storyline competition so you're forgiven. But I can't forgive myself for dragging you with me just so I can change seats ! ><

"Lyn and Devon?" Greggy questioned with a tone of impatience, cutting Lyn's train of thoughts

Lyn and Devon looked at each other's gaze for answer. In the end, they decided to tell the truth although 'honesty is the best policy' is a lie.

"We..we didn't do.." Lyn said with her head hung low with guilt towards Devon, but no one knew of course. They all assumed she felt guilty for not doing Greggy's assignment.

Devon, on the other hand, remained unfazed. He looked as if he did nothing wrong and nothing happened.

Devon's nonchalant reaction triggered Greggy's anger meter. Moreover, it was that time of the month for Greggy so his 'no sense of remorse' face amplified Greggy's anger.

"THE TWO OF YOU, DETENTION AFTER CLASS!" Greggy bellowed, her voice loud enough to turn those with the ability to hear deaf, give the deaf the ability to hear.

"I'm sorry.." Lyn said apologetically

Why apologise?

Actually, Devon could not understand why Lyn felt guilty to him. After all both of them were partly responsible and Lyn didn't have to shoulder the blame alone.

"There's no need to apologise. We were both at fault and I intended to ignore this assignment anyways"

Wow. To think I cared so much about his academic results...for nothing! Wow! I am really a fool!

"uhh okay.." Lyn didn't know how to reply. It's not like she can scold him for making her so concerned about implicating him. After all, Devon did not make her do it. Yet Lyn was just overly-worried..for nothing!

Seeing Lyn get frustrated at herself, Devon was amused. Detention won't be as boring as he thought after all.

When Lyn stopped, Devon frowned. Looks like I have to make her more agitated.

"What's the matter? It's okay you can just cry, I understand." Devon said condescendingly, making Lyn angry again

This jerk! You understand nothing! Me? Cry over detention? Fat hope! She sneered at Devon, making Devon laugh. Oh right, I almost forget that this jerk is a sadist, always so happy when I'm angry

"Damn you! Stop laughing!" Lyn said, exasperated

However, this seems to trigger him to laugh for his laugh got louder.

HAHAHAA she's so funny when she's angry. I should video her the next time she flare up. Devon convicted this mission to memory, determined to achieve the mission, and make Lyn a living meme.

Over time, maybe due to the fact that Lyn doesn't want Devon to be entertained, Lyn gradually grew tolerant towards Devon's taunts and gained immunity to his insults. This made Devon bored to tears.

"Shall we play a game of truth or dare? I'm borrreeddd! TT" Devon whined.

Seeing Devon whining was amusing to Lyn as he usually wore a cold, sombre expression on his face. But I'm greedy. I don't wanna choose. It's either all or none. Lyn chuckled to herself, the mischievous glint appeared in her eyes.

"Nah! Truth or dare is too lame. People always choose truth only, no fun! How about truth AND dare?"
