The sun was already beginning to rise up from the horizon. Its warm light shone upon the faces of the many people on the caravan.
"Haaahhh"
Christian yawned as he tried to get up but only to end up lying back down once again on his furry "bed".
Many who saw Christian's carefree manners couldn't help but curse at him in their hearts. They wished that they were the ones sleeping soundly and being a wait upon on.
Almost everyone had bloodshot eyes as they tried to stay awake while being wary of their surroundings particularly Christian's group. After all, nobody wouldn't want to be the breakfast for his starving wolves who gazes at them with the intent to devour them.
If there were one thing which they should be joyous of then it would be probably them not experiencing any night raids or any attacks. As no matter, they were bandits or beasts just seeing a grown wolf who was capable of killing a 3rd rank expert on its own was already terrifying. What more of it if there was a pack of these monsters.
"Alpha, how's Celeste and Sirius doing?" Christian asked because of last night when he looked over to see if Sirius and Celeste were here he sadly found out that the cute pup was nowhere to be found out.
Seeing his master remember his son Alpha unknowingly wagged his tail as he replied through his spiritual with Christian, "Celeste and Sirius together with some female wolves are at the cave busy taking care of the new-born pups."
"Ahh, is that so..." Christian couldn't help but a bit disappointed. After all the journey from Itreo to here was a bit boring. Only being able to see white wherever he looked was tiring and he wanted to play something for a long time now.
"I miss my computer..." he mumbled.
Although Alpha didn't know what a computer was, seeing his master longed for it deeply he thought it was his lover or someone important so he tried consoling his master. If Christian were to know Alpha's thought he wouldn't know whether to laugh or be embarrassed about it. As he frequently answered questions like "Do you have a girlfriend" with the answer "Oh, Yes her names Computer".
"Master, Don't worry I could call over them now! I'm sure you'll be very proud when you see Sirius"
Christian's mood brightened as he went up and ask a nearby passenger where were they and found out that they were just about to leave Itreo's boundaries via Frost Fort. Although Christian didn't know what or where Frost Fort was. He was also told that a broken bridge war far ahead. And based on the description of the bridge it was surely one of the places he used to hang out after an afternoon of hunting!
Since the cave was near enough, Christian just let Alpha and the rest to go back. Last time the pack numbered at least just 30 with 20 male grown Alpha included and six female Celeste included and the remaining pups Sirius included. So they should be in need of manpower or "wolf" power to protect the cave and hunt. So he just ordered them to go back and upon arriving to inform Sirius if he's interested to roam the continent with him.
Hearing his Master's words Alpha almost cried as the opportunity for his Silver Wolf Pack to rose in power. Although Alpha's pack was feared by some humans in front of the other beast and stronger adventures they were nothing but meat! In front of such great opportunity, he almost cried and the only thing holding it back was him being the "Alpha". He needed to look strong in front of others as showing a sign of weakness would weaken his control over the pack.
Sometime around after breakfast Alpha and the pack said goodbye and left the caravan which brought a sense of relief to the other people. They could finally sleep without worry as these wolves frightened them. Take note that this was a caravan composing of merchants without power and offering no resistance if ever Alpha's pack decided to have a quick snack.
"You sure have ways to be able to tame such beasts, Mr. Christian!" Adam, the merchant, greet Christian with a smile on his face. Although he was smiling on the surface deep inside who knows what he was thinking. But judging from his red eyes the suffering he felt last night was truly something.
"Good Morning, Sir Adam. I'm sorry for the inconvenience last night. " Christian chuckled. Seeing the man who cheated him a few gold coins suffered a bit vented his small grudge. Honestly, the golds weren't his, to begin with. They belonged to some fat perverted pig-man who was harassing a girl. He just stealthily cut off the man's pants and taking the pouch full of golds as he walked nonchalantly. Nobody saw what he did and the pig-man was too busy trying to cover his little brother.
After exchanging a few more words, Christian didn't bother with him anymore as he doesn't want to mingle too much with crafty people like him. Who knows if he would lose his remaining golds sooner or later.
Just then Jade could be seen coming out from Icey Forest. Christian greeted her as usual as this happened almost every single day. At first, he thought she was going to leak behind a bush or something so he didn't think too much of it. The next day he found out that Jade disappeared again when he went to her tent to ask her for breakfast then only to reappear before the caravan leaves.
It continued for days so he got used to it and asked the same question all over again too, "Out for a fresh air again?" he asked.
Mostly, everyone would find it very weird to go to the forest just for fresh air. Just so you know that this world isn't polluted as heavily as it was on Earth so no matter where you were fresh air was something you could always smell.
Jade was also used to this and happy that Christian respected her privacy so she just also smiled and asked what's for breakfast.
After eating their breakfast the leading merchant rung a bell which signaled the whole caravan to get moving. Christian packed the leftover hard bread and returned it to his bag. He whistled and waited for a while then soon after a pair of white horse ran over to him.
These two white horses were commonly found here in Itreo. Able to stand cold conditions and easy to raise well at least here in Itreo it was. As these horses preferred to eat snow rather than eating fodders. So you had to have a constant supply of snow to keep this horse alive which could almost be found through at every nook of Itreo but in other Kingdom's especially Wild Heart this was almost impossible to find.
"Snow, Cool, How were you?" Christian asked as he combed its white mane with his fingers. He'd usually free it before evening to find its own comfortable place to sleep then later in the morning he'll just have to whistle for them to come back.
Naturally, it would be impossible for Christian's whistle to be heard from afar especially for someone like Christian who's whistle was just as loud as a buzzing sound of a bee.
It was only possible through a "skill" called "Whistle" commonly used by beastmasters or people who own a beast. It could be easily heard from half a mile. Most of all it was incredibly cheap only costing about 600 SCPs!
If it was before Christian wouldn't buy such expensive and almost useless skill as he could already buy a few 1st rank spell with that. But after the "Newbie" phase was over the prices of spell spiked up and in return, the system had become more generous with its rewards.
Killing a 1st rank beast will give him at most 100 SCPs and 2nd rank for 300+ SCPs then around 600 SCP for 3rd rank. As for 4rth rank, he still hasn't managed to kill one and it would already be an amazing feat for a 3rd rank expert to solo-kill a 3rd rank beast.
As for Snow and Cool, they were just 1st ranked beast. But don't underestimate their speed as they could easily outrun most 2nd rank beast and some can even rival the speed of some 3rd rank beasts.
Theoretically, Christian's running speed is a bit faster than them so he wouldn't need them as mounts. But for someone as lazy as him who would bother running and tire yourself when you could just sit, relax, and chill as he watches some "jiggling" actions. Not to mention Christian's stamina is in no way comparable to beasts.
"Hey, You Okay?" Jade said as she frantically waved her hand in a hurry in front of his face to get his attention.
"Ugh, Oh yeah? what's up?" Seeing her panic-stricken face Christian asked as he broke free from his bubbled state. Just a second ago he was wondering what to do after meeting Maria. Even before that what would he tell her in the first place.
Surely, he can't just show up and say, "Hi I'm your rabbit Luna and this is my true body and I happen to fall for you" could he?
So he was truly in a dilemma, but it's no use thinking over it if he can't think of a current way right now. As there is definitely a more important thing to take care of right now. For example,
"Shit! Bandits!"
"I thought they've already been exterminated by the soldiers!"
