"Do you know what university he is applying to?"
"Of course the one he got a scholarship for."
The brown-haired boy grit his teeth. His eyes were dark and filled with envy.
"He portrays himself as some high and mighty king when he can't compare to me."
The boy's hubris, his narcissism was truly amazing.
He was David, Lucas's "arch-enemy"
"He's going to go high, and fall hard."
David was accepted into the same university. He worked hard for it, but it was his dream too. He loved to be appreciated and his dream was also of a high standard.
He didn't get the scholarship, but he was one of the top 0.5% of the entire population, and his country was praised to be the haven for scholars and intellectuals. The competition was truly fierce, like a raging sea.
Just like the sea, the tides changed. The ones on the top fell, the ones slightly below them occupied the position.
David expected Lucas to experience something like that, but to his dismay, Lucas just shone brighter. The night sky in Loen Country was really bright, with countless stars. Meteors came and went, but Lucas still managed to shine, amidst all of it.
But it excited him more, him to strike down - a shining star. To push down someone who was really high.
David just smiled, his gaze turning into one that mocks a fallen king. He already had the university textbooks, 3 months prior. The syllabus had changed, the education world was evolving. The sky, belonged to him.
....
In a bus, Lucas was wide-awake. He knew the consequences, but he had prepared. He took out his phone, where he had the list all the companies he had registered with.
Lucas was still under-age, he was just 16. He needed his parent's consent before registering with any company. But he knew there was an exception. Ever since he had realized his passion, he had made sure that he everything to back it up.
In Loen Country, the entertainment industry was insignificant. With an education prioritized society, the entertainment idols or performers weren't as hailed. Only a few renowned people were on screen, and it was limited to a few dozens or so.
He wanted to be there. In the podium. Many people failed, but he wanted to be there. He wanted to show his parents, that the education path wasn't the only one for him.
Okay, some companies allow without parent consent, but they are not main-stream... And I should be careful that they aren't shady.
I should do this. People might call me reckless, but I don't care anymore.
Though Lucas had finally taken the first step, he was still fearing. But the comfort that he might be able to do it, to live by his passion made his mind turbulent.
Lucas closed his eyes, with all the thinking, he unknowingly drifted into sleep
.....
"Are you seriously going to Trutyin city?" A little boy excitedly asked.
"Yep. This handsome young master is going to-"
"Christopher... you forgot to pack your underwear"
"...."
"Cassey, your mother called." A lissome woman who criticized the no-underwear guy gave a phone to a beautiful adolescent.
"Thank you, Chris's mom"
The boy with fair skin and a small head reached his hand forward. He opened his lips to talk, which were glossy and plump. His enchanting look was accompanied by a sharp jawline, but it was covered by the mask of youth. His twinkling rare-ash colored eyes was adorned by long lashes and everytime he closed them, he looked like a fragile doll. His hair was sleek and fluffy, making him look like a cartoon character. But when the full painting of his visage was seen, he looked mystical. One glance could never be enough to this boy, and you would be bewitched. The haunting beauty the boy would exhibit when he grows up is to be revered and feared. His boy was slender but not petite, he seemed to have exercised a lot.
After the boy had finished talking, the woman sighed.
"Cassey, without you, I'd be too scared to send this little man here."
While saying those words of appreciation, she balled her fist and bonked the other boy's head.
He let out a wail filled with indignation and puffed his cheeks.
"I am the one who need to take care of him!"
