After his body disappeared from the forest a giant shadow emerged from the trees. It looked at the remains of the spider on the ground before giving out a low growl and returning back to the shadows of the trees.
------
In the open area 2 days after the centipede disappeared a few animals that looked like Capybara were eating the remains of the spider, these so called capybara were around 3 feet tall when they stood and their teeth had obviously strengthened. While these monsters were enjoying their meal a blue rift opened above them a giant shadow fell out of it before closing up-This was naturally the centipede.
'Whew, it feels nice to be back.'
It then turned and saw a few capybara looking at him with an angry glare. He ignored as he knew that his carapace wouldn't break under their jaws.
The Capybara looked angry at the shadow that disrupted their meal, but when they tried to bite it they surprisingly found out that they could only leave shallow bite marks across the hard carapace. One had to know that after these few days had passed they were able to bite through almost anything they encountered.
'Ughh, I really don't want to fight just as I get back. Let's try to scare them away.
The shadow turned around and revealed a set of black round eyes. The capybara seemed to freeze and shudder when they were stared at by the giant centipede in front of them. It inched closer and closer and then attacked one of them.
A high pitched screeching sound was heard and then a loud cracking sound. The capybara turned to see the centipede holding one of them in its mandibles. The rest looked at their comrade and then at the creature that was holding it, their eyes turned red and they let out angry screeches from their mouths.
'Damn, That just made them angry."
'On the bright side I could test out my new agility with this.'
He steeled his resolve and stared a the five capybara running towards him. He let out a screech and bit down on one of the closer capybara. It dodged and bit towards his carapace. He shifted his body slightly and bit into it, releasing venom through his fangs. (Fun Fact: A centipedes venom can kill something three times heavier than itself with its venom.)
He let go after a few moments and launched himself towards the other capybara. They all bit him in different places leaving shallow and deep marks, while one got lucky and bit in the same spot the first one did, puncturing into his carapace.
He felt as if someone just stopped him with a a foot long sword. He thrashed around and he accidentally squished one of the capybara flat. The one biting him let go of him and kept a distance, the rest did the same.
'These things are quick learners aren't they?'
He decided that he would try out something he thought of while fighting. He looked at the capybara that just bit into him and fired a glob of purple liquid at it. The capybara didn't dodge, thinking it could take on whatever was thrown at it but instead of him just being drenched in a normal liquid the venom from the centipede started to burn its skin while letting of steam.
'So my venom also increased in level? Sweet.'
He looked proud of his achievement and then fired two more globs of poison at the remaining two. One hit while the other one missed because the last capybara ran off into the forest. After the venom had killed its prey it was time to eat.
He finished all five capybara in no time and then finally got a chance to look at his body to see if there were any new changes. He noticed that most of the changes were in his legs, they started off as a four segmented leg but they gained a segment and became more sharp. There were also traces of claws forming at the ends of his legs.
He looked towards the sky and it was about to turn dawn so he wanted to find a cave to sleep in and also have a more in depth look at what changed in his body. After a few hours of searching he found a cave in the side of a hill not far from his original location. He went into and saw that there were no tracks or trails indicating something had been here before.
He settled in a corner of the cave and started to check his status.
