Wei Tao messaged him right after, asking about his mind space.
"Mine is the size of a pond. I mean bigger isn't better am I right? Didn't Khu Bei have the soul space of a puddle but he still reached amazing heights without talent? His hardwork paid off right?"
Wei Tao was internally glummed out and Bai Li knew it quite well.
"Haha, of course brother."
"What about yours?"
"Oh, mine is a river."
If he lied about another lie to which he told Zhao Fei, he would feel quite awkward if they were to ask one another. Wei Tao was surprised and green with envy for Bai Li.
"Lucky! Not only do you have talent, you also work hard! I will never surpass you!"
"Don't say that, who knows, you might be more powerful."
"That is highly unlikely, you know that. If we were to compete right now and you gave me a headstart for about a year, you would've surpassed me by a mile!"
They were words of praise and modesty. Wei Tao was a great fencer at his age as his parents both adopted his grandmother's fencing in their new cirriculum as he being the spearhead of his future descendants.
Fencing was seen as a more feminine sword style and many people rebuked about it being way much weaker than other swords, especially people who used heavy weaponry. But that all changed when he surpassed his peers in sword training and got a reccomendation to the Genius Dojo, just like Bai Li, which explains their similarities of beating multiple people and gaining respect.
Both have had a series of duels going on and kept it as a simple rivalry between who was better.
By total standards, in the hand to hand combat, Bai Li would usually win with his overall technique and with martial weapons included, he had lossed many with Wei Tao's expert skills. Fencing was a technique of both speed, control, and precision, power did not matter as much as their weapons usually compensated with such.
But what Wei Tao faced against Bai Li was like a handicap. Bai Li knew that being versatile in weaponry would allow one to have many techniques in its arsenal and can duel others with their sort of style as well. He wanted to learn all the foundations of each weapon style so he can play around it and secure victories.
Wei Tao's skill in his foil was absurd and if he were to progress well in his foundation and make his own skill, he would most likely be able to instill his blade to his hands and win both martial arts and weapons combat.
Though Bai Li had learned much of daggers, greatswords, axes, swords, and other weaponry. He truly loved the sword and so he stuck with it if he wished to get serious. Bai Li's talent was also quite similar to that of Wei Tao, but with his overall nature, he did not take his fight seriously just like Wei Tao.
Wei Tao was silent after speaking back to Bai Li and he was trying hard to hide his tears. The evidence was overbearing that he was quite stoke about his friend being extremely talented but he was depressed. A cauldron of emotions was thoroughly mixed within his actions.
"Haha don't worry, even with talent, you could work twice as hard, plus if you try hard enough, you can finally imbue your blade techniques on your hands to surpass me!"
He used his sleeve to wipe his tears and smiled once more. Placing his fist on his heart.
"I will do everything in my power to surpass you, just you wait!"
He ushered to the call function to be disabled and was left in the silent room.
The lights of the academy was always evident as their was no night at the Soul Realm First Gate.
The First Gate represented the stage of powers of people who are usually at the Warrior state as if one were to be a surpasser, they were given the path to enter the Second Gate where most surpassers would be located. Being a surpasser in the First Realm held many casualties as the impure soul energy could harm their body permanently and they would either forcefully seal their genetic abilities to pass through the gate, their abilities would be on par of those of peak stage warriors, which meant if they were outnumbered, they could be killed by those weaker by them. It was like a game which restricts their high level player base to match evenly with lower levels if they wished to come and fight.
But some laws restricted such movements since even if one would have a seal placed on their real strength, their techniques were much more tempered and much more powerful with the martial arts available in the second gate.
It was like if their body stats was the same but which allowed them to use skills with different multipliers.
The Union basically monopolised about 50% of the activities in the Soul Realm so all people couldn't refute on their judgement.
Bai Li went out at the time of night and went to the administration building to see if any internship was available.
The time to walk was quite immense so he began jogging to help his body remain fit in his state.
The label on the genetic solutions he got from the box held limits on their usage, as the genetic strengthening solution said that one must form at least 100 drops before starting to take a dosage of an ounce for every hour in a week, in which their bodies will rise to double or quadruple if the conditions are good. The Nourishing Solution is needed to revitalize the strengthened cells of the body so it came afterward in which someone could drink it anytime. It allowed one to be able to use the newly strengthen body get used to the energy intake in which revitalize the cell as explained earlier.
The administration building was the castle seen at the first entry to the Academy with its strong and domineering presence.
The insides of the castle however was much more modern with different machines layed around and some functioning computers from their satellite dishes to make an array for the machines to work.
The reception desk was like the castle interior but rennovated to fit their needs.
"How may I help you?"
A lady with the appearance of a young adult replied.
"May I see if any internship are open?"
"Of course student, here is the list of the groups that are readily accepting interns in their party."
He skimmed through them by their strength, purpose, fame, and the requirement for the intern to be in their team.
Some knew quite well of their power and fame so they sometimes require money.
Groups sometimes focus primarily on one thing such as either monster subjugation, construction, research, and foraging. Bai Li was intent on finding one purpose and he had found just that.
A rather well off team with decent power and little fame was doing mercenary work.
It was the same as if it were saying that it was an all purpose group with the right amount of money, they would do it.
Bai Li at this stage of time had little to no experience in the Soul Realm, so he wanted to be shown the ropes of everything so he knew what he could do later on after graduating.
The name of the group that wanted the intern was called the Bearded Lady, with three members of two mid-tier Warriors and one low-tier Warrior who had stern and built bodies. Their beards were their largest factor and which accounted for in its name. They only require the intern to be quite good with the knife or blade and to do menial labor. The intern will receive 400 Credits for two months and if the party thinks if the intern did a major contribution, could reward them befitting of their contribution.
He knew it was the right one and the conditions perfectly fit with Bai Li.
"I would like this one, Sister!"
She held a large grin on her face, and continued on writing his details and verification of identity.
He knew for a fact that you should never mention a girl's age if they were quite old so it was like someone dropping a rock on their head when one does.
Shortly after finishing everything, a group of students came over and asked for the same thing but replaced sister with auntie and they received the wrath of a receptionist, long periods of waiting for the request to be completed and complete denial of their request with some obscure rules that are rarely ever protected.
The wrath of the receptionist continued on as a plague of ill thoughts that materialized appeared near the group that made the request. They will surely get the runs if they don't apologize.
