Off to Meet His Family!

I couldn't help but be curious about where we're going.

"Mister, where are we going?"

He said with a heavy voice, "I need to check up on my family, to see if they are still safe."

Ah, I was right. He has family that he was worried about.

He looked towards me, "If you need me to, I can bring you there with me? Or even drop you off at the orphanage?"

The orphanage, huh... Well, I guess that is a lot better than living on the streets.

But first, maybe I should see what his family is like... After all, I'm very curious about who his family is and what they are like.

"I'd like to meet your family. If it's not a bother."

It seems I was slowly losing my reservations, as well as my original unwillingness to show my knowledge to him. Slowly, I seemed to be getting used to him...

"That's not a problem. Let's go then."

We took off to go see his family.

...

....

...

It took us about thirty minutes for us to arrive in front of his house.

His house is a wooden, white two story building that was not too big nor too small. It's close to the other houses, yet not to the point of touching.

Luckily, it seemed his family lived on the side of Konoha that hadn't been destroyed. Otherwise, they might very well have died. Especially since the demon fox was rampaging wildly, indiscriminately causing damage to every building near it.

After all, if all that we came to was ruins, I would definitely be stuck in an awkward situation. Luckily, that wasn't the case.

He let me down from his back, and following behind him I entered his home.

Stepping through the doorway, I smelled the fresh scent of an apple pie.

"Honey, I'm home!"

He took off his shoes at the doorway.

I would also take off my shoes, but I don't even have shoes at the moment.

A pretty young lady with long black hair and hazel eyes ran down the stairs with a bright smile on her face, "You're back~!"

She jumped into his arms and ferociously kissed his cheek.

That's one energetic wife.

"Who's this little cutie?"

The wife pointed to me, giving a questioning look to her husband.

It seems my time has come... Or not.

Just as he was about to speak, she interrupted him with a humorous tone, "Don't tell me you came back to me after playing with another woman."

He waved his hands in front of him in denial, "No! No. I would never do that..."

She laughed at his frantic display, "I know, I know... I was just teasing you."

She went up to him and kissed his cheek again.

You know~ I'll just be sitting here. So, please continue.

My mind started wandering...

I wonder, would my existence be forever forgotten, just like this?

He showed a face that said he had given in to his indignation, "Anyway, this little girl is an orphan. I found her while I was on my way back to Konoha. She doesn't have anywhere to go. Luckily I found her, or she would've encountered wolves by now..."

She wore a pitying expression, "Oh dear..."

She came up to me and got onto my level, "What's your name?"

I looked up at her, "Rin."

She smiled, "Rin. My name is Shinko. You are welcome to stay the night if you'd like. Since you don't have anywhere else to go."

"Eh? Can I really?"

She laughed, "Of course! Where else would you go at this time of night?"

I was surprised at how kind she was being. Well, it wouldn't be too bad to stay here with them. Just for the night.

*Gruuumble~*

I could feel my cheeks heating up. My eyes became slightly watery from embarrassment, I looked away from the amused gazes of the two before me.

(ಥ﹏ಥ)

She smiled and looked into my eyes, "Are you hungry?"

No, I'm starving!

...No but really... I'm literally starving, as I haven't eaten for a long while.

As I remembered the scent from earlier, my mouth curved up into a smile and drool started oozing out from my mouth.

I was sure I looked pretty stupid, but that scent is heavenly.

*Ruuumble*

She brightly smiled at me, "I'll take that as a yes."

He laughed upon seeing the drool, "Let's go have some of that apple pie you were baking."

( ゚ヮ゚)

"That sounds good."

They started walking towards the dining room and I follow behind them.

There I saw, a fragrant and beautiful crisp, golden apple pie on the table.

I couldn't contain my excitement, "It looks so good!"

Ahhhh, apple pie... I just want to dig in already.

(ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

I climbed onto one of the seats, waiting for my serving.

Speaking of which, wasn't it not good to eat before bed? Well, whatever. A bite or three couldn't hurt.
