Xiaoyu’s indifference and Huafeng's flashback

Since she died with so much regret and grief, I will help her to get her revenge on all who have done her harm.

I've decided right here and now that I will no longer be MuXiaoyu of the past…or is it the future? Since I was given a second chance in life, I will do my best to live and adapt to the times.

Like they say in the modern time, do as the Romans do.

Less than a minute later:

"I am fine mother and grandfather", I respond.

"I knew my baby was strong! I knew she would definitely wake up", she voiced delightfully with tears streaming down her cheeks.

"My legs?", I ask.

As if understanding me, Huafeng answered and said: "I'm sorry baby. I called all the doctors in the capital. Even the emperor's physician could not cure your legs. They all stated that when you wake up from your coma -- if you wake up -- then you would never be able to walk again."

"Ok", I replied painfully with a sullen heart that only showed for a second before it was gone. It was gone so quick that you'd think your eyes were playing tricks on you.

Huafeng feels for the first time that her daughter is somewhat different.

"Maybe it's because she just woke up thinks Huafeng as she silently observes her daughter's expression. Huafeng is conflicted because on one hand, she is very happy that her daughter woke up, yet on the other, she is sad to know that her daughter will never be able to walk again. As Huafeng silently continues to study her daughter, she notices that Xiaoyu is very calm and seemed indifferent to be a cripple. As if it weren't her own legs that are crippled but someone else's. She should have been angry and made a fuss if she was told something like this. She normally makes a fuss about everything since she was young. Not about jewelry or beautiful clothes but she would be annoyed when things did not go her way which happened a lot with me around."
