My phone rang again in my hand. Good thing, there was no one close to me to get disturbed and I sat at the far corner away from the librarian. I soon cut the call. It was from Kai. I glanced in front to catch the old woman glare at me. She thinks I am spoiled for always coming to the library instead of the classroom.

I silenced my phone to be safe, in case Kai decides not to give up. Then, a notification popped on the screen. A WhatsApp message from my brother said 'Come home when you will, I am waiting.'

He seems irritated. Duh, bro . . . I scroll through all the contacts that I texted to and somewhere near the end, I found May's. It's been a while. I opened the chat to notice that the last message was dated back to a time one and a half years ago. She informed me that she was going on a ten day tour with her family to which I replied a simple ok.

I tapped on the icon and it enlarged revealing a serious face with a stoic expression showing off that she was strong enough to deal with life. May seemed to glare at the lens while taking that photo. Then as I scrolled back up and somewhere in the middle was the chat group the six of us have. The icon revealed an old photo of us back from school days. The chat was mostly filled with the girls talking of ice creams or Ton telling us how friendly his friends from the other country were during the time he has been away. James would forward all those health conscious messages and news; indeed our perfect doctor. I would only reply to Ton if the others were busy and too late. I chat only when it's absolutely necessary. Most of the talk is delivered through the calls.

I went back to May's chat and sent her a text. Time heals everything. I should not continue to hide from her due to my own reservations. She knows all. My next step would only be after hers. I didn't brood more over it and bravely decided to send a text to her, fulfilling a request of Jessy and my own conscience. I didn't want to harbour any kind of fright towards May anymore. I really wanted that one female friend of mine back because something is happy than nothing.

It was a straight forward text, one that was casual and needy, just like one to a very close friend not bothering of the time or place or situation she would be in. 'Hi. What's going on with James?'

That was what Jessy asked me. For the first time, she asked for a favour from me. James was hiding something from us. And from the tone she used it was pretty much evident that whatever it was, it would turn out to be bigger than we can imagine. She pleaded me, literally. For a person like her to fell so desperate and hopeless, I can only wish for everything to be alright.

James and Jessy is one unbreakable couple. Their bond has always been strong; something, I admire them for. Now that something transpired between them to the point of losing faith in the other, staying optimistic has become rather hard. Fate sure is unpredictable.
