A Blessed Mystery (5)

Cindy met the four visitors at the entrance of the Fairy Domain gates. They gave their greetings and talked about their troubles that happened throughout their journey the past few days. Nyla was still reasonably weak but she was able to walk with a little help from Linx. Dalton had his arms tied with a strong vine that Kavira produced, his weapon confiscated and being held onto by Clain. Cindy was speaking about the Fawn when she said such wise words. "A tainted heart, a tainted life. He must be a part of the hunters."

Kavira looked over her shoulder at the fawn while they walked through a trail that was lit up by neon blue, purple, pink flowers with neon green leaves. "He is the right hand man of Lord Yoru. We understand that it is bad manners of us to bring such a dangerous person here but we can't risk being out in the open. Besides, I believe he has some valuable information he can share with us."

Cindy wasn't all too happy to have a hunter invade their domain but she agreed that the safest place for them right now would be to remain with her and the fairies. "Don't worry dear. It's late now so you will all be staying with me, you'll have time to settle in and then have dinner."

Kavira, Linx and Nyla were fascinated looking at the area, Fairies flying from place to place all glowing in a florescent light. The houses we aligned with such beautiful decor on the outside, it wasn't long until there was a halt in Cindy's movements. "This is my home." She pointed to a slightly bigger house than the ones they had passed by, it was pink and peach on the outside with a small flower garden.

She led them into her home one by one everyone had to duck their head to get past the front door. "Boy's you will be sleeping in the room upstairs to the left and girl's there's a room for you on the right. Go ahead and freshen up, I'll see you in ten minutes for dinner." Cindy flew on by to the kitchen to finish off dinner, the rest followed her instructions and made their way upstairs.

"Dalton will stay with us, should I bring him down for dinner?" Clain and the rest waited outside their rooms to await for Kavira's decision. She thought about the possibilities of him escaping but she wasn't too sure he would still she couldn't be too careful.

"Leave him in the room. We have things to discuss that I would prefer he doesn't hear. I'll bring him dinner after." Kavira produced two extremely strong vines and handed them to Clain. "Tie his legs up to a chair with these and if he tries to leave I'll snap his neck with this." She placed her right hand on his neck, and watched as roots wrapped around creating a rope like necklace.

After the necklace was finished the men did as they were told and the women went into their rooms to freshen up. "You're powers are incredible." Nyla knew that Kavira was special but she never would have guessed that she could do so much more than the rest of them.

"You're magic is quite something too. It was your water barrier that kept you alive, it was strong. You're more in tuned with your magic than Clain and Linx." Kavira removed her leather armor and her harness that still carried her dao broadswords. "How long have you had this power?"

"I'm not sure, I just know that when I left home seven months ago I used it to help save a birds life. That's how the hunters found out I had magic and why they used me to do some of their bidding." Kavira wanted to learn more but she felt it was best to be talked about with the rest of the group.

"We'll talk about it over dinner. Come on."

Dinner was set and they were all happy to finally be eating more than just vegetables, Cindy presented fresh bread, corn, rice along with an even more deliciously assortment of seasoned vegetables. They were all stuffed after finishing their plates that they were ready for dessert, Cindy was delighted to see their happy face and brought out some strawberry flavored shaved ice for everyone.

Kavira was the first to speak. "Cindy, there's something we would like to discuss with you." Everyone stopped smiling as they recognized the serious tone in Kavira's voice. "Remember when you met me you thought that I was the only person with magical powers."

"Sweety, you are the only person with magical powers, the magic clans disappeared thousands of years ago. The symbol on your right arm shows that you are special, different." Cindy was sharing the information she gathered from years of reading the ancient texts, seeing her mark this made sense to her.

"The problem it that, I'm not the only one. Clain can control fire, Linx can turn into a cloud of mist and Nyla can manipulate water." Cindy looked around the table in bewilderment, all of them had magic?

"But, in the texts it says that it you were born with magical power than you would have the mark of the clan you were born into. The way Kavira has her mark of the dragons eye." None of this was logical, neither of them had a mark or a brand, they simply found out one day that they had magical abilities. "This doesn't seem possible, the Ancient texts are very knowledgeable on these kinds of things. The library is closed now but we shall leave tomorrow early morning."
