King Adonis (5)

"You may become a palace guard immediately, the fawn will have to look for some work elsewhere." Sean was well aware of the King's preference of not having any creatures work for him. He doesn't hate them but he also hadn't come across any creature that can do more than any other human can do.

"Alright, when do I start working?" Clain was well aware of the the time, he couldn't just wait around. He had to group up with the others and brief them on the progress.

"You can start tonight. You'll be on duty with Prince Adam, his room is on the right wing up the wolf stairs." Sean said his piece and left. He had the entire castle's staff to run, he couldn't just talk all willy-nilly.

After Sean disappeared Clain took out his pouch and handed it over to Dalton. "Head to the front of the castle, I'll inform Linx and Nyla that you will be there. I'll probably not be able to leave here so try to get a room somewhere. Tomorrow morning I'll meet you out at the front of the castle."

Dalton heard Clain and hastily walked away. Clain wasn't sure when he had begun to trust Dalton but he didn't seem too bad anymore. He then made his was towards the right wings of the castle where he instantly found the stairs with the wolf handle, it was so big that it nearly blocked half of the first steps just to get past it.

"Come in." Clain had made his way to Prince Adam's room, debated on whether to inform him of his presence but he decided it was best to present himself. "Who are you?"

"Prince Adam." Clain bowed respectfully. "I am Clain and I will be your guard for tonight."

"I see. Sean didn't pick a completely useless guard. You're a true warrior. Why are you here?" Prince Adam was a warrior himself but he didn't have to resolve to break himself completely, much to spoiled to fight for honor or dignity. He was a Prince, others would do it for him.

"I've come to Keero in search of work, they said this is the best place so this is where I came." Clain was hoping that the Prince would stop asking random questions. When he agreed to present himself he didn't think the Prince would pay him any mind.

"Clain, if you were to court a woman, a tough and independent woman. How would you go about it?" Prince Adam had spent sometime thinking about the beautiful woman he had met but had no idea what to do now, she wouldn't be impressed by anything he could give her. He had never dealt with such a woman, it was driving him crazy and making her a lot more irresistible in his eyes.

What does this have to do with the job? Clain wasn't much of a romantic, if Linx was here he would have been much better help but Clain was hopeless. He cleared his throat to try and avoid the question. "I'm sorry."

"If you were to court a beautiful strong woman, how would you do it?" The Prince wasn't backing down, he wanted Clain's opinion.

"Well.. I would take her on a walk out in the moonlight through a garden and talk about myself, ask her about herself." Clain said what he had wished he would have done with Kavira instead of running away that day, maybe the situation today would be very different.

"That's an excellent idea! You may go now." The Prince dismissed Clain to guard his bedroom door on the outside. The only reason he had requested a guard was because some women had been sneaking in on him and trying to take advantage of him. He wasn't weak but he would rather not deal with such annoyance.

"Clain?" Linx had seen the purple light on the messaging flower just as he was walking into the Keero city gates. "Linx! I don't have a lot of time. Dalton is at the front of the castle waiting for you and Nyla, wait until tomorrow. I'll try to meet up with you."

The call ended sooner than Nyla would have liked but she wasn't about to dwell on the fact that Clain didn't even ask to speak to her. "Was that one of your other companions?" Brenda was being a tad bit nosy and had listened to what Clain had said.

"Yeah, we have to go to the castle now. I'll try to contact Kavira and see if she'll pick up." Linx wasn't all too happy that he had been through almost an entire day without hold Kavira. Ever since their long odyssey started it felt like they hardly had anytime for each other. To him it was always magic this, magic that, why is that this and why is that that. It felt like a never ending cycle of questions they couldn't answer and Kavira was at the center of it.

Linx walked further ahead before trying to make contact with Kavira.
