Fever (4)

"Hello, Jiji, it's daddy, I don't know when exactly you'll see this, but I know that she'll only show it to you once you're ready. I made her promise me this so please don't be upset with your-" She swiped away as there was a knock on the door. Jessica sat up turning her phone off before the nurse walked inside.

"Hello, I came to do a quick check up, her skin looks cooler now, and her temperature is the same, so I'll call Doctor Lawson in to give me the prescription and we'll do the Ibuprofen IV," she said after checking the monitor.

Jessica nodded asking, "How long till the Ibuprofen takes effect?" Catherin smiled saying, "It'll take 30 minutes to infuse so we'll wait an hour to see its effects and 3 more to do another dosage since too much is dangerous." Jessica nods and Catherin smiled before walking away.

She came back a few minutes later with Lawson saying, "Yup, same one. He should really stop cooking, last month it was a scald from steam, this time he got food poisoning from an undercooked meal."

Jessica waited for the two to finish and Lawson smiled turning to her asking, "Did you take a nap?" She shook her head, and he nods to Catherin, walking over to Jessica saying, "Jian will be fine, if she is anything like you, she'll wake up soon." She sighed saying, "I really hope so." He nods and the two take a few notes before leaving.

Jessica sighed watching Jian as time passed, she kept glancing at the monitor and at exactly 6:53 her temperature went down to 104.5 degrees from the 105.6 degrees. She smiled letting out a breath of relief and soon the nurse walk with someone else.

"Hi, this is the day shift nurse, I will be back this evening so until then she'll take care of you two," Catherin said writing a few things on the board and Jessica gave her a gentle smile saying, "Thank you."

"Hello, my name is Maria, I see Jian's fever has gone down, she should be able to wake up in a few hours, so will she be staying the whole day?" Maria asked looking at the clock and Jessica frowned slightly glaring at the two nurses.

"Ah, it's Monday so most parents usually discharge their children by noon so that they can go to school," she explained nervously, and Jessica blinked as it clicked her. She smiled saying, "My apologies, I misjudged you. Also, Jian will be staying here today, her heath is more important than school."

Maria nodded writing a few things down before walking out with Catherin. Jessica sighed looking at the time it was 7 so school was opened by now.

"Hello, Paxton Private Academy, how can I help you?" She heard a voice say and smiled gently saying, "Hello, I am calling to inform you of a student's absence today."

"Name of student, reason, and name of parent?" She heard a sharp response as well as typing and her smile dropped as she said, "Jian Kim, 8th year student, parent Jessica Kim, reason for absence fever over 105 degrees."

"Alright, she'll be excused from her finials to make them up on Tuesday afternoon at 4:30, please bring a doctor's note too," the tone was much more polite, and Jessica said yes before cutting the call. She sighed making another phone call to her boss.

"Hello, sir, I will be calling off today, my child is sick goodbye," she said as soon as he picked up the call and ended it right after.

He called her back, but she didn't pick up placing her phone away as she sat down. She was getting board of just sitting there so she laid her head down closing her eyes.
