The Descent

Arthur takes a step toward Lisa dropping his sword as it hits the ground with a loud TINK and CLUNK. She moves back tearing a little into the page "NO..don't come any closer Arthur I know what your gonna do!!" the room echoed with her screams as a metal vase on a table in the study room rang quietly as its metal vibrates, Arthur also felt the stuffy and dusty air vibrate around him.

"Lisa calm..." before Arthur even finished his sentence, Lisa screamed at him saying "DONT YOU DARE...you're in no position to just off yourself to win a war there's always another way!!" Arthur sits down on the cold concrete floor inside the equally cold concrete walls, with paper studies stuck to the wall with knives shoved into them.

Lisa collapses dropping the page crying she crawls her way to Arthur wrapping her arms around him tightly and pressing her face against his chest. "please Arthur...don't go...don't do this we have children and think how they would feel if they never saw their father again. There has to be another way, let me be the one to do it I've done nothing but sit in my bakery with the safety of others as you and everyone else kept the peace and fought."

Arthur looking at the page from afar, reading that the item he wishes to get was the dagger of tombs, seals someone or something from the underworld in the dagger, after that Arthur couldn't see anything else past Lisa's head.

"I'm sorry Lisa but I have to...I won't promise I'll come back, but I am the king and I intend to do what a king must, which is protect his people." He wraps his arms around her tightly, his face struck with sadness but not a tear to shed.

Lisa sobs a little pressing her face against his chest more, Arthur then pries Lisas off from around his waist looking her in the eyes. "grant me a warriors death, my darling I'm not the perfect king or husband nor father but, I know that I must do this if there is to be a future for our children."

Arthur still holding onto Lisa's hands she leans in and kisses him, they both hug each other in a loving embrace, Arthur and Lisa then let go of each other and both stood up, Lisa knelt on her knee to Arthur as he picked up his sword "this will be goodbye for now."

In that instant, Arthur turned his sword facing the blade down, the blade gleams in the dimly lit room with a reflection of Lisa on one side of the blade, Arthur grasps the handle with two hands and raises it up then shoves the sword into his stomach the blade pierced through his lower back, he twists the blade hearing and feeling his organs turn and swish around inside.

he takes out the blade with the last things he hears as he watches his organs and blood spill out of his stomach was Lisa's muffled screaming, "ARTHUR!!" his vision blurs out as he falls limp onto the ground.

Arthur lays there for a second, his back became cold and wet, lifting up his hand he feels water dripping off as he opens his eyes to see a lady above his face. He freaks out screaming and sits up "AAHHH!!" the lady pulls away as he shoots up from being laid down.

Crossing her legs and sitting on a chair of soft sheep wool she says to him. "Yes you are not in the underworld, no this isn't Heaven, how do I know what your gonna say because everyone that comes here asks that question."

Arthur sits up shaking the water off of him but then realizes he's dry looking down he sees the water almost slithering back down his body back into the so-called water below him.

Arthur turns to the lady and responds to her saying "no actually I was gonna ask who you were," she stands up from her wool seat as it turns to mist surrounding them.

"The only thing you shall know is that my name is Ishkahn I'm the one who overlooks this bleak land of Purgatory. So then where is it you are going?" Arthur looks at her silhouette through the mist then feels a needle-like point run-up his back as another turns his head to face hers, a youthful face with yellow eyes pale skin with black and white hair.

"send me to the underworld I'm in no mood to deal with you, I need to retrieve a specific dagger." Ishkhan twirls around Arthur like a ballerina on ice and then stops to face him, She raises her right hand, and the water beneath engulfs her right arm, slowly the water starts to drop away revealing a weapon-mounted onto her arm.

"If you are so eager for the dagger then fight for it, it's what you are now against the impossible odds you are up against." Arthur reaches for his sword from his scabbard but to his surprise, nothing was there.

Keeping his position where it was he stands there for a while with Ishkhan growing bored of the waiting she gets ready to dash and cleave him in two, as soon as she was ready, white sparks appeared and circled Arthur splashing the water around him.

Lisa sitting there still looking at Arthurs dead body from the corner of the room looks up at Ascaline and sees the white sparks form around it, her face of despair quickly came to be a face of hope as she said quietly to herself "we're all waiting for you, our king."

The white sparks around Arthur soon disappeared revealing away Ascaline in his scabbard, "well, good thing I came prepared then."
