I won't see him today

"Hello Doc, what's my grandfather's situation?" Rebecca worriedly asked the attending doctor while President Lee is looking at him anticipating his answer.

"He suffered mild heart attack, the cause is a partial blockage on his coronary artery. We already performed thrombolysis, the procedure involves injecting a clot-dissolving agent to restore blood flow in a coronary artery. He is responding well. We will monitor his condition closely. He will be transferred to a regular room within the next 24 to 48 hours if everything goes well."

"Will he need any other future surgery?" President Lee asked anxiously.

"Surgery in not an option right now."

"Thank you Doctor." then he escorts them outside and posed more questions which he doesn't want Rebecca to hear then return inside the ICU.

"Becca, let's go home first. You need to eat and rest." He walks toward her and pat her head.

"No. I'm not tired. I'll stay here with grandpa." she insisted.

"Please, you go home first. The ICU nurse will take care of him and besides the visiting hours will end soon." He tried his best convincing her.

Rebecca nodded and stands up as his brother walks her out of the room. On the hallway he saw Mr. Kim and instructed him to ready the car. President Lee then brought her sister back to the villa.

The next morning Rebecca and Martin head to the hospital to check their grandfather's situation. The nurse on duty informed them that the doctor already gave an order for their grandfather transfer from the ICU to the VIP room.

"Mr. Kim, bring the documents here in the hospital and cancel my appointments today."

"Noted President Lee." When Mr. Kim arrived at the hospital Rebecca and Martin is waiting inside the VIP room. They were just waiting for the staff to transfer their grandfather from the ICU. President Lee while engrossed to his laptop reached out for the documents handed by his assistant.

"Would there be any other instruction President Lee?"

"Head back to the office, I'll call you when I need you." He responded without looking at him. Mr. Kim then left the room.

After a few minutes, they heard a knock on the door. It's the hospital staff transferring their grandfather. When Rebecca saw her grandfather lying on the hospital bed she can't help but cry.

"Brother, I didn't do a good job taking care of grandpa. Do you think he will take it against me?" He asked Martin while holding his grandpa's hand.

Martin stand up and walks towards her. "It's an accident and it's not your fault. I saw how you take good care of grandpa. I am very sure he will not blame you." He pats her back while consoling her.

"I don't want to lose him like what happened to our parents." She starts sobbing. "I don't know if I can take it." She continues.

Martin didn't say anything and continue patting her back. Twelve years had passed since they lost their parent through a car accident. He was sixteen then and she was eleven. Their grandfather took them in his care since then. They love and respect him. For them he is the most important person in this world.

They were in that situation when the doctor together with the interns and nurse knocks. Upon entering, they check his vital signs.

"Your grandfather is responding well. He will wake up soon after the sedative wears off. Although his condition is no longer serious he still needs to stay a few more days for observation." he explained.

"We understand doc, thank you so much" Rebecca responded.

"If you don't have any other question we'll leave you now." then they left the room.

President Lee continued doing his work in the sofa using his laptop. He massaged his neck and stretch occasionally. When he checked his watch is already lunch time. He looked at Rebecca to check on her.

"It's already lunch time. I'll buy us lunch. Do you want pasta?"

"Anything will do." Upon hearing her response, he left the room.

Inside LMK Corporation

Sammie return to work the next day. Anxious of facing President Les she thought of extending her leave. Only when she realized that loads of work is waiting for her she decided to come instead.

"Good Morning Miss Saavedra"

"Good Morning Sally, where is Mr. Kim? I didn't see him in his room." She asked while holding several folders in her arms.

"Mr. Kim is here earlier but he heads out after receiving a call from President Lee."

"I see. I will just put these folders in his table then. Thanks."

As she heads back to the manager's office, she heard the employees gossiping.

"Did you hear the news, President Lee's grandfather was in the hospital because of a heart attack." Nelly from the PR department eagerly told his colleagues

"Wait, He is the former CEO of LMK, right." another employee joined in the conversation.

"Yes he is the CEO before President Lee, Nelly is it truly him?" Benjie from HR questioned her, he has been in the company for 10 years thus he knows the former head.

"Where did you get the information?"

"so that is the reason why Mr. Kim left the officer this morning."

"My source is very reliable. President Lee will not report to work today. He will look after his grandfather." She confidently shares the information with them. Coincidentally her husband is the attending nurse of Mr. Ben Lee and she accidentally heard it from him while her husband is talking on the phone.

When they saw her passing by the corridor, they head back to their own table and continue working. They don't want to stir trouble. Everyone in the office know how close the relationship between Sammie and President Lee's assistant is and they are afraid she might inform Mr. Kim of their behavior amid working hours.

In front of her computer Sammie can't concentrate. "So President Lee is not reporting to work, I won't see him today. It is good then." she thought then started doing her work.

It was already noon when Mr. Ben Lee regain his consciousness. When he opens his eyes he saw Rebecca looking at her.

"Grandpa, you're awake. Brother he is awake." she informed Martin gladly.

"I'll inform the doctor." Then he steps out of the room.

"Grandpa, how are you feeling? You scared me to death." Rebecca worriedly asked while holding his hand.

Although despite not able to talk clearly Grandpa Ben still tried to calm his crying granddaughter.

"I'm fine." while trying to smile.

When the doctor and nurses came they checked him and advised him to rest for full recovery. They were told that he needs to stay for another 2 to 3 days more in the hospital for observation.
