Chapter 5 - Green Thumb

Main Character gains +1 to Herbology from your choice. You are better at growing and rearing crops and plants. The plants that you grow and care for will be more effective. You know more about the different types of plants and can identify.

You step out into the sunlight of a new day and head down to the adventurer's guild with Minerva. She leads the way through the town once again as you struggle to map the town's layout in your head.

In front of the two of you is a building larger than most. A steady stream of people wearing all sorts of equipment filled your view. Behind the building, you can hear merchants shouting for customers to see their wares, but the terms were foreign to you.

Entering the building, you come face to face with a young lady standing behind a desk.

"Hello there, I need a new adventurer's card for this young man here," Minerva spoke confidently once again pushing you forward. You are instructed by the lady to make a small cut on your hand and to drip your blood on a card around the same size as the one you witnessed Minerva flashing to Alex, the town guard.

The moment that your blood hit the card, it shone with a dull brown color. Once the light ceased shining so brightly, you notice the card now displays a likeness of your face and a list of figures that you still aren't able to understand.

Minerva reaches over and takes the card from you. "Wow!" She exclaims, inspiring some excitement in you. "You are so weak..." she states in a deadpanned tone.

"Never mind that," she says, handing the card back to you and giving the attendant some coins. "Your stats will naturally increase, from now on, you're not allowed to leave town without my permission." She states firmly.

As you and Minerva leave the Adventurer's Guild, she recites the rules of the city, to remind you that you would have to act with care as you are the outsider in the town.

Minerva brings you to a fancier building, one of the few made from stone. She brings you through the door, she states that this is the town hall, where disputes are handled by the town officials.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minerva hands you a piece of paper and says "Alright, I've informed the town council that you will be going out to the farmlands to help the farmers. Go on then, this piece of paper will prove to the farmers that you're permitted to assist them."

You reach out and grab the piece of paper before heading out of town, asking townsfolk for directions out to the farmlands.

Upon reaching the farmlands, you start looking for someone called "Rowen". Once again, asking the nearby farmers for help, you eventually make your way over to an extensive array of crops. Pushing the well-kept plants aside to make way. Very quickly, you come across a young boy almost your size with blonde hair as he sat on a rattan chair and weaved.

The rattan in his hand interlocked with each other to create and build a strong foundation. You step forward and hand him the piece of paper than Minerva gave you.

Taking a look at it, he gives you a quick smile and without introducing himself, he instructs you on the different types of plants that he grows at his farm and teaches you how to recognize them. He also begins to teach what the various stages each type of plant will go through throughout their lifespan.

He instructs you to start by remembering all the information and pulling out the weeds. You start getting to work almost immediately and at the end of the day, you feel extremely exhausted as a result not having eaten all too well.

On the bright side, you managed to do a good job and the hefty amount of weeds that you show to Rowen at the end of the day prompts Rowan to exclaim in satisfaction. He gives you 3 bronze round things and tells you to come back in the mornings for more lessons.

On your way home, you're fiddling with the bronze coins when you run into Alex the town guard.

Alex says "Hello there little one, aren't you the youngin that Minerva brought into town yesterday, have you made your adventurer's card?"

You quickly nod your head in affirmation. Alex still looks at you a little funny. You remember seeing that Alex had taken shinier versions of the coins that Rowen had given to you, so you ask Alex to teach you what it means.

Alex tells you that it's getting late and that you should be heading back, but if you want to learn about money, he can teach you about it at the front gates tomorrow morning.

Go to work in the fields (Chapter 10) or Return to Alex the next day (Chapter 11)
