New Life (2)

At Malfoy manor Harry was overcoming a serious dizzy spell in Lucius's study. He knew they had questions but he was still unsure if he could tell the truth or if he needed to lie. 'The old woman never said I couldn't tell people the truth, but will they believe me or think I am crazy?'

"Harry do you mind telling me how you knew our first names?"

"Well this will probably sound crazy to you, but I want to try to be as honest as I can be. I am from another world that is parallel to this in a way. My name was Derek Gregory Barnes and I was twenty six years old when I ran in front of a vehicle in a depressed state. My whole life I played by all the rules never doing less but always giving too much."

"That doesn't explain how you know our names though? Can you tell me that in particular first?"

"In my world there are seven books titled Harry Potter. Supposedly they told this body's story in his seven years of School. Well six years the seventh year he was hunting horcruxes with a muggleborn and a Weasley. Your family is mentioned in them as the antagonists aid. You yourself were a death eater while your wife Narcissa never took the dark mark but supported the cause till it interfered with her family."

"So even in your world Harry Potter is famous? How did you come to posses his body if you don't mind me asking?"

"That is what I don't remember. All I recall is going home early since it was my birthday. Walking in I went to the bedroom since my fiancee couldn't be found anywhere else in the Web house I thought maybe she wanted to give me a surprise since she knew I would be home early. I was too naive. I found the love of my life in bed with my boss and long time best friend. The shock made me drop my briefcase which startled them. They started to try to explain but I couldn't bother to listen and ran out of our little apartment. We lived in a small town compared to most but traffic was still horrible. I wasn't paying attention where I went and apparently walked right into traffic. I remember the truck hitting me and a voice telling me to enjoy my next life that maybe I could make it better then the original soul did. That is when I woke up as Harry."

"Thank you for being honest with me at least now we can know a little more about you. While it may seem strange to most I believe you and have to ask that you never tell another soul about what has happened to you. I will teach you occlumency to hide your thoughts from that despicable old geezer at Hogwarts if you wish."

"Please do. I never agreed to how he treated the original soul that occupied this body. He not only went against the deceased mothers wishes but left him in an abusive home to make him feel a sense of longing towards the school. If Harry had been just a little darker in the books he could have literally became the next dark lord. I just want a normal life in the magical world."

"What would you say to being adopted by us Harry? Will you be alright with it or do you want to think it over for a few days?"

"No need to think about it I am willing to be adopted by you. Will Narcissa be alright with it?"

"It's mom now so stop with the first names and come to the den. I called Madam Malkin to come measure you for some clothes dear."

"Yes mom. Dad I will leave the rest to you."

"I will bring the paperwork as soon as it is ready then you can sign along with us."

Walking towards the den Harry finally looked around the house. It had a medieval castle type vibe with dark wood and stone walls and a black tile floor that resembled granite. All the portraits were moving and whispering to each other about the boy following Narcissa Malfoy. The furniture he could see was all made with a dark wood and if it had a cloth covering it was normally emerald green or black. All the decorations were Silver or stone giving more to the ancient feeling the house gave off. "There must be a lot of history behind everything in here?"

"Yes dear there is. Almost everything in the manor has a history with either a Malfoy or a Black. My families heirlooms were sent to me when my mother passed away. The only other place as rich in the history of my family would be the noble house of Black. When you gain access to the noble house of Potter you will understand. As the last living descendant of the house you have to carry the name of your house with pride and lift it from the ashes like a phoenix during rebirth. When we adopt you we will add our last name to you but it will be Harry James Potter Malfoy. You won't drop the name of Potter it will still be there as a reminder of your family pride. Come through this door is the den. Madam Malkins is waiting to take your measurements."

"Thank you mother. I will remember to raise my family name from the ashes and also make the name of Malfoy proud to have chosen me."

"Hurry along dear after you are done in there dobby will show you to your room."

Walking into the den it had the same color scheme as the rest of the house. There was a witch sitting elegantly on the settee in front of the fireplace. She had a kind face and soothing voice when she finally spoke to me. "Come dear boy let me take a look at you. Your so scrawny we will have to add a rune to make your clothes fill out with you so that they don't become to tight. Did the muggles even feed you dear? I feel as if I am staring at a skeleton. Come let me take the measurements."

As she said that she flicked her wand and a tape measure started with my waist and kept going. Next to it was a notepad and quill writing everything down with precision as Madam Malkins started to fix another cup of tea. "It is a shame you were gave to the muggles. Nobody could believe it when Dumbledore told them. Even Minerva went head to head with him over that decision. She had watched them all that day said they were the absolute worst muggles she had ever seen."

"They were decent as muggles they just couldn't stand the magical world. My aunt resented my mother for being a witch because she wasn't one too."

"It is a shame to resent someone for something they can't control. I suppose that anger was takin out on you as well. Some of the Muggleborn wizards I went to school with founded a house of their own in our magical community. Their families are not like the sacred twenty eight who have countless years of magic in their blood. But nonetheless their few meager generations have all been without a doubt witches and wizards. That is the way our community builds itself after great calamities such as the war. Lily Evens was a talented witch and a decent human being. It is such a shame to know her sister couldn't see past her being a witch to see how much Lily was suffering due to her."

"Thank you for those kind words. I think I better understand our community now. There are twenty eight with a long ancestry in the magical world known as the sacred twenty eight and more families that are built on only a few generations of magic."

"That's correct dear. Now I am done with your measurements so run along I need to speak to the Malfoys dear."

"Thank you mam for enlightening me on our community. Dobby!" With a poof the famous house elf appeared before him. "Would you show me to my room Dobby?"

"Yes young master right this way." Following Dobby I wonder if I made a bad choice staying with the Malfoys due to how they treated Harry in the books. Thinking on their actions since I have been here they were obviously different to how they were portrayed. Maybe I can change this story permanently in my favor.
