The Sword Dance of Red and Blue Part 23

Kazuya couldn't risk leaving Lyn alone.

Chisato sighs. "I know why you did it, I know that you love her very much. But Kazuya, you already understand right? Even if you had no illness, members of your clan have never lived past a certain age. In fact, you're the only one who has survived this long."

That's right, he belonged to a cursed bloodline. Due to a mistake that his ancestors made, his entire clan was cursed to die young.

"If you stayed in the Sound Kingdom, you would have at least a few more years. But, not only did you not stay. You didn't even visit once. Does Lyn know that even if they solve the issue with the jades, you will.."

Kazuya weakly shakes his head. "I can't possibly tell her that."

How could he possibly tell her that no matter what she does, he will die? If she knew from the beginning, perhaps Lyn would never have taken his hand. If that had happened, Rhys and her would have been together much sooner.

He had many regrets, and they all started from the day he tried to take something that wasn't his.

If only he was her other half, then perhaps his future would have been different.

Isaki, who had been silently listening, frowned. "Your pulse is very weak. I am truly surprised that you can even stand up right now. A normal person would have died. If what this young lady says is true, you have at most two or maybe three months left. If you keep pushing your body however, it wouldn't be a surprise if you died within two weeks."

He is no longer surprised to hear people speak about his own death.

It's inevitable after all.

It's good that he isn't Lyn's soulmate, had he been her soulmate. Then it would have been a true tragedy. Lyn would have had to live the rest of her life with the other half of her soul missing. She would spend endless days feeling empty, even if she married again.

When he discovered that ancient tablet, Kazuya personally went to the shrine to confirm the information. He could have easily informed Lyn or anybody else about this. He didn't have to personally confirm the information. However he wanted to see with his own eyes.

'Is it me? Am I the one who is supposed to stand next to Lyn?'

In the end, his jade shattering before his eyes was a huge wake up call.

'I am not Lyn's other half.'

But even if that is the case, he intends to protect her. He intends to sacrifice his life for the sake of achieving her dreams.

No matter what magic they threw at Jen, she would simply evade it and forget about landing a scratch on her with her swords. It feels like there is an invisible barrier around her, making it hard for their attacks to reach.

Just as she thought that, a beam of light went past her and she hears the sound of something shatter. It seemed like there had been a barrier around Jen, but it had now disappeared.

Lyn looked towards the direction of where the beam came from and saw Kazuya. There was a familiar green coloured light surrounding his body. Behind him she spotted brother Isaki and Chisa. They made it on time, thank goodness.

Rhys helps her stand up and Kazuya appears by her side. Whenever Kazuya fights, there seems to be a dignified air around him.

Rhys stretches her cheeks and she frowns. "Hey!"

"Stop looking so love struck."

Kazuya laughs. "Do you think I look cool Lyn?"

Lyn nodded, "Very cool. You could easily make a girl fall in love with you."

She watches as Rhys expression turn gloomy and she laughs and clung to his arm. "But my dear is the coolest, right?"

It seemed the endearing tone 'of my dear' was enough to calm him down, since Rhys nods and kisses her forehead.

Jen's gaze turned even more murderous. "Are you done? How dare you relax when your in the middle of a fight."

"I know right? Can you believe they have the nerve to flirt in the middle of a battle?" Kazuya agreed.

Rhys rolled his eyes. "This isn't flirting, if you want us two to act lovely-dovey, there are plenty of other ways."

"Rhys you need to control yourself! Women have delicate bodies."

Lyn looked at the two arguing childishly and sighs. The ones who are the most laid back are these two. Her thoughts break off when she sees Jen raise her hand and a blue coloured box appeared in the air, a small crystal in the middle.

Is that Rhys jade?

She has a bad feeling about thi- just as she thought this, Jen started to attack the small box with the jade inside. While she couldn't attack it directly, it seemed attacking the exterior was enough to have an effect on it.

"Rhys are you-" Lyn pauses seeing his expression turn pale and she clenched her fist. No, don't falter now. She has to focus.

Lyn closes her eyes and a bright red light wrapped around her body, and right that moment she hears the familiar roar of a dragon. Kosame lands beside her.

"Mistress Lyn, what is your wish."

"Please get that box for me."

The priority right now is to secure Rhys jade, as long as Jen has it. She will continue to provoke her.

Her thoughts break off when Rhys grabs her hand. "So, I need to ask you for a favour?"

"I'll do anything for you." Lyn mumbled.

Rhys laughs. "Cool, mind lending me some of your mana so I can summon the water dragon?"

Her gaze softens. "Mm, of course."

The minute their hands made contact, she was already secretly giving Rhys her mana. After a few minutes a blue coloured light wrapped around Rhys body, and a blue coloured dragon appears. That must be Ao, the water dragon.
