6. Eating poisoned mushrooms

While getting to their apartment the brothers didn't speak with each other because of the depression they were feeling after losing their old home and even the mental support which is of course the old Orphanage head.
After returning home they drink a lot of water to fill their stomach but that wasn't helpful at all and finally, they went sleeping because of exclusion from the whole day's suffering at the evening the sound of a doorbell woke up Kazuna and opening the door he found the same masked man with a bag just like their lunch and breakfast and wanted to ask for more food only to find him disrepair the moment he received the bag.
'Next time.' Kazuna promised to ask next time and closing the door he woke Naruto to eat dinner together "Brother the dinner is here."
While they were eating Naruto said with a sad tone "Brother?"
"Yes." Kazuna replied while eating his rice slowly.
"Do you think we also have parents " Naruto asks in depression.
"I think everyone has parents." Kazuna said with an absent-minded tone looking at his rice as water started getting in his eyes as he looks at the white rice in his bowl.
"Then where are our parents? " Naruto asked in a sad tone.
"I don't know brother." Kazuna has lost his appetite for good at this time despite the hunger he is feeling right now.
"When everyone has a parent why doesn't our parent come to us. Do you think they hate us? " Naruto said as he also stopped eating.
"Maybe there hate us and that is why they left us in the orphanage. "Kazuna replied in a shaky tone deciding to not eat anymore.
"Are we that bad for everyone to hate us?" Naruto had an extremely sad face when he finished his words.
"Maybe we aren't that good and that is why even granny to whom our partners left us abounded us when she takes care of so many children." Kazuna finally pushed the food away from him as he does not want any food for the night.
"Are we so bad?" Naruto felt extremely gloomy at the moment after hearing his brother's explanation.
"Maybe we are." Kazuna finally lets out the tears in his eyes and directly went to the bed to not speak anymore.
That night the two of them didn't speak with one another anymore and decided to sleep in their separate bed but when it was deep in the night Kazuna was still unable to sleep either from hunger or because of the depression he was feeling after the discussion with his brother.
As he wasn't feeling that good he decided to look at the moon when he heard sobbing sounds from the side and the moment he turns to the side he found Naruto who was sleeping weeping at his sleep while calling for their parents as he decided to move to his bed and hugging him said with determination "Don't worry at least we have the two of us to take care of each other. "
After that Naruto stopped crying and soon after that Kazuna also falls into a deep sleep.

The next morning they woke up late and found the breakfast on the table and didn't get to ask the masked man for more food so with no other choice they ate the little food they were given before getting out of the house.
This way a few months went by they never got to eat to their full neither were they able to find the Orphanage they used to live in before coming here and the masked man would also not give enough time for them to ask or complain.
One certain day while walking beside the small river which is near the forest they saw an old man catching fish using bugs they also thought of doing the same but they didn't have the fishing rod even if they can gather bugs for fishing.
With a few days of effort, they were able to find an abandoned fishing rod in the forest, and after a small repair by Kazuna it was good to go and they successfully caught some fish but that wasn't enough for them to satisfy their hunger.
"Brother why don't we eat those?" pointing at the mushroom under the tree beside the river Naruto suggested.
"Try lighting the fire while I collect some." Kazuna has also seen the same kind of food getting sold in the market but they didn't have enough money to pay so they never get to buy however finding them in the wild he decided to try them anyway to satisfy his hunger.
"This is good." Naruto said taking a bite from a roasted mushroom.
"And there is more of them." Kazuna said with a happy smile as he ate one himself.
"I am full." finally when they fished eating Naruto said laying on the grass nearby.
"I don't remember the last time I was so full." Kazuna also has a happy smike when he finally got to fill his stomach to the fill.
"I think I won't mind if I die right now." as he is happy after his meal and feeling somewhat dizzy Naruto had a smile when he said such.
"Me neither." Kazuna also has a happy smile on his face when he isn't feeling any more hunger like he will always feel.
After that, they closed their eyes and stopped moving.
A few minutes later an Anbu with a rat mask lands on a tree branch and said witha satisfied tone "Man that felt good, although it was a little dangerous taking dump in the forest however doing it in nature is also an amazing feeling."
The specific Anbu who has just landed on the tree is the Anbu who is assigned to look after the kids and feeling his stomach hurt he went to clear his stomach but when he returns he found the kids sleeping in the forest and with a serious face says "Man these kids are going to become the death of me sleeping in the middle of the forest aren't they afraid of getting eaten by some wild Chakra beast or something." after that he jumped down from the tree branch and walking beside the kids says "You should feeling lucky that I am on duty and in a good mood after cleaning my stomach so I will take you home but if it was someone else they would."
As soon as he puts his hand on them he felt them breathing strangely and not sooner after his eyes lands on the mushrooms left on the side of the fire as he exclaimed in shock "Come on I just left you for only ten minutes and in this short time you have eaten poison mushroom, do you want me to die so seriously. "Crap I need to hurry or the Lord 3rd will take my life. "
With that, he quickly made his way to the Konoha shinobi Hospital while thinking "This is why I didn't want them to come in the village but no the Hokage wanted them to learn from a young age and decided to let them go anywhere they want even at the age of 3. That day after the Anbu left the kids to the hospital and reported to the Hokage he got an earful from Hokage as well got himself punished by the Hokage for letting them eating poisoned mushroom on his watch but the Anbu didn't want to make the Kage angrier than he already is so he stayed silent about him taking a dump in the wilderness.
When the Hokage arrived in the hospital he got to know from the doctors that the kids are out of danger and they will wake up by the next morning which made him sigh in relief but the doctor's explanation about them not have a proper amount of food made him angry as he added more punishment to the Anbu who is responsible for their daily necessities.

On the next morning when they woke up smelling the scents of the food they discovered themselves in their bed as Kazuna asks in confusion "Weren't we fishing in the forest? "
"Brother look there is meat in the food today." Naruto calls out excitedly ignoring Kazuna's murmuring.
Hearing Naruto shouts Kazuna cane out of his stopper and quickly joined in the meal but he is still confused about how he and Naruto are in the house when they were in the forest not before they lost their consciousness but for now, they need to focus on the food instead.
