For the past few months the United Federation and the Hong Empire have been exchanging heated words over the international channels.
The issue started 2 years ago when the Hong Imperial Navy sent a few warships into a bunch of small islands in the South Hong Sea and started occupying and fortifying some of the bigger islands.
The country who actually owns the island started protesting internationally, but due their third world country status, they were mostly ignored by the international community.
This changed when the president of the small nation accidentally revealed that the islands have oil reserves that created the oil fields in the middle east.
Apparently someone discovered a huge underwater oil reserve on a group of tiny islands a few kilometers away from the mainland. And hired an oil prospector company from the Hong Empire to confirm the extent of the oil deposits.
Once the staggering amount of oil reserves was confirmed, the Hong Navy was immediately ordered to secure the area.
After the information about the oil reserve in the islands was released. Every nation with the most remote reason to claim the islands started laying down their own claims. Adding their protest in the international court.
As the old seated world superpower the United Federation was not able to resist the temptation once they themselves confirmed just how much oil was under those islands.
The two oil hungry superpowers, started bickering and posturing to lay a claim on the untapped resource.
Both nations tried to exert their influence and bully the other countries making sure that they're the ones to claim the area.
The tension escalated when the Hong Empire started building military bases and deployed a very significant military presence in the area.
They also started blockading the area preventing anyone from getting near the islands.
The United Federation Navy tried to use their advanced military technology and send a few nuclear submarines and a few planes in the area but they were blocked and escorted out of the area by a strong military response from the Hong Imperial forces.
The tension reached its climax when one of the UF Navy Cruisers fired at one of the Hong Frigates on another interception incident.
The frigate immediately requested for backup and with five fully stacked military bases within the area the Cruiser was immediately surrounded and captured after a brief firefight.
The UF president called for a World Nations Assembly to try and justify a war with the Hongs. Using the excuse of protecting the territory of their ally. A small nation with zero war capabilities.
A ruling was passed and a Joint Military Force was to be assembled to be led by the United Federation.
Having their sights on the islands for some time, the moment that the ruling for the Joint Military Forces were approved, the United Federation immediately sent five of their massive Carrier Battle Group towards the tiny nation of Mactan.

CVN 1178 - Ivanka Trump - one of the latest Super Carriers of the UF Navy. She is one of the eight Carrier Battle Groups of the United Federations Pacific Fleet. The battle group consists of 31 ships of the line with 5 total carriers that can field almost 600 aircraft.
The captured Cruiser was part of her battle group and they are itching to get their comrades back.
She was the first of the 5 battle groups to arrive in Mactan and deployed her forces around the biggest landmass that's nearest the disputed islands.
A local naval base, previously used in the last world war, was reactivated and secured to accommodate the battle group.
They deployed their auxiliary ships to key security cordons around the naval base.
The forces from the other nation who's participating in the war are also starting to arrive in the country utilizing the airfields all over the country.

"Admiral, we received confirmation that 2 squadrons of S-35 from Langley just landed at Mactan International Airport. The Air Marshal also confirmed that our bomber wing stationed in Hawaii is now being armed."
The Admiral nodded with satisfaction. Everything is going as planned.
"Admiral, there is a small problem regarding Mactan's President. He is complaining that we do not have permission to occupy this base and that we have not been given permission to occupy the other civilian airfields in the country."
"We don't need to listen to that monkey. Our Battle group alone is enough to occupy and conquer this stupid country. Tell the other battle groups to proceed as originally planned."
His aide smirked and relayed the message to the rest of the Carrier Group.

At around 12 am in the morning alarm bells started blaring all over the base.
"Admiral 5 minutes ago NORAD detected a Ballistic Missile launch from the Hong Mainland. It was from one of their mobile vehicles. Its trajectory is headed in our direction. Their DF-2 ballistic missile is capable of Nuclear payload and we are currently within their range."
"Alert the fleet and get the TBMs ready."
"Our Theatre Ballistic Missile defense is already deployed sir, but we have 12 incoming ballistic missiles. We only have 2 cruisers with anti Ballistic missile capabilities. We might not be able to handle all of them sir. I suggest alerting the civilian population for the possibility of a nuclear strike hitting the cities."
"People of this country are not my priority, Command our TBM cruisers to focus their defence on the Battle Group. leve any missiles that are not a threat to my fleet."
