73. Horrifying Hazards Part 3

"Don't ever talk to me again!" Bond yelled at Spence while glaring at him.

"I was forced to do all this. I never meant to do it." Spence walked towards him and grabbed his arm.

"Forced to? Do you have any clue what you were about to do?"

Spence had visible tears in the corner of his eyes.

"It was a task. You can ask him." Spence pointed his finger at Haruko.

Haruko was now sitting on the bed, right beside Pin. He was caressing the sweaty tuft of hair as he looked at the terrified face with utmost sympathy in his cold eyes. Pin stared back at him as if he was seeing an angelic being. There was a glow of enlightment in his eyes that assured Haruko that he was fine.

"Haruko, did you ask Spence to do this?" Bond suddenly shot up. "Spence said so."

"Me? I was the one who informed you. How could you think I did all this?" He seemed startled.

"Haruko you barstard!" Spence yelled as he charged towards him, only to be stopped by Bond.

"I had not trusted him until I saw you with my own eyes. I still wanted to tell my self it was false but the eyes don't lie."

"Bond... Why are you... Being so dumb today?" Spence's voice was now choking.

Bond grabbed him by his lean arm and dragged him across the room as he pulled him outside and shut it behind himself. He glared at him square in the eyes as he scrutinized every part of the situation. Spence seemed to be extremely tired and distressed.

'I don't believe it's him.' He said to himself.

"Spence, look into my eyes." He muttered as he pulled Spence closer.

Spence looked into his eyes, with his struggle and helplessness ever increasing. "I swear I haven't done anything."

"Why did you suddenly get a task?"

"I don't want you to know this, but I found something... Sam is alive." He muttered with guilt in his voice.

"Wha--" Before Bond could complete saying what he wanted to, he felt a sharp blow on his head. The pain traveled from the center of his head to the temples, causing his brain to shut down for a moment. He could feel his eyes feeling heavy as darkness engulfed him from all sides.

"Bond!" The last thing he heard was Spence yelling out. He seemed to be hurt himself.

When his eyes opened next, all he felt was a sharp throbbing sensation in his head and down his spine. His vision was blurry, but he could feel the warmth of yellow light on his face. He rubbed his eyes and looked around him. His head was facing the ceiling and the yellow light was from the lamps in the room. Turning his head further, he saw Spence lying unconscious. By instinct, he tried to get up but failed.

'What the hell is this?' He asked to himself as he forced his body to cooperate.

"Spence! Get up!" He exclaimed as he shook every part of his body with the remaining strength.

By this time, Spence had gained half of his consciousness. After all, Bond was acting like a human alram clock. Someone had to stop him.

"What the heck do you want Bond?" Spence opened his eyes with anger sitting on the tip of his nose.

"What happened?"

"What are you talking about?" Spence said as he tried to get up. A sharp pain rose from his spine, causing him to fall back.

"What are we doing here?" Spence asked as he rolled his eyes.

"I don't have a slightest clue."

At that time, Spence noticed someone near the entrance of the secret chamber.

"It's Pin!" He exclaimed out loud.

Bond hovered over towards Spence's side, as he bent over to see Pin. Pin seemed quite distressed but more than that, there was a noticeable blank expression on his face. Bond looked down at Spence, who seemed to be guilty of something. However, he couldn't put his finger what the matter actually was.

There was one more unusual thing he noticed, the fact that Pin and Haruko seemed closer than before.

"What's wrong with them?" Bond asked to Spence.

"It does seem very unusual." Spence answered.

Spence couldn't muster the courage to look up at Pin, the person who he had tried to kill a short while ago. The more devastating thing was the fact that Bond had completely forgiven him, as if nothing had happened. He seemed too jovial for the current situation. He didn't ask for such a punishment. Somehow, he wanted to dig his own grave and bury himself.

"Bond, I am sorry." He muttered in a low voice.

"What are you apologizing for?"

At that time, his phone screen flashed with a message:

"Since the task was to test your concern for others and selflessness, you have failed terribly. As a compensation, the candidate has lost the memory segments involving you in any form. The candidate's friend has also lost some of his memory."

After reading that, Spence threw his phone on the ground as tears began to stream down his cheeks.
