Emperor's Test

Silver halted his steps. He paused his breathing and stood as still as possible. With only twelve seconds left on the duration of stealth, each moment mattered.

Silver eyed the Golem who was now watching him. After only a moment of thought Silver decided he had no choice, but to move under the Golem's watchful gaze. Step by step Silver inched closer to the defended door.

The Golem's eyes appeared to follow Silver's movements, but it still did not strike. Confusingly, the golem followed the invisible Silver with its' eyes. With only three seconds remaining, Silver reached the ordinary wooden door. It appeared simple to open, but Silver did not believe this would be the case.

Without time to waste Silver's hand approached the handle of the door. When only an inch away from the handle, his movements quickened, yanking the door open.

Unfortunately, the door failed to open!

The Golem - already suspecting an intruder - instantly reacted to the sudden movement. The Golem lifted its' giant metallic hands and prepared to smash Silver.

Silver, unpanicked from failing to open the door, already had a backup plan. He activated and attempted to teleport through the door.

Silver began to sweat, with the Golem's blow approaching Silver only had a single idea left.

He directed his skill at the door… The old wooden door instantly crumbled from the strike!

Silver dove into the doorway, barely avoiding the Metallic Golem's strike.

A loud bang was heard behind him.

Silver was safely inside the doorway. The thousand-year-old wooden door seemed to have been on the brink of collapse. Silver turned to the Golem who seemed to have forgotten its failure and went back to its original position.

Silver took a breath of relief. He made it through the first obstacle of the tomb.

He found himself in a hallway similar to the one at the entrance. He slowly walked down the hall. After only a few seconds, he found a small room with three strange doors. Written on the wall was a question.

"What have you come here for?"

Three words marked the doors. The first door, which was surrounded by gems and made of solid gold, was labeled "Wealth." The second door was "Knowledge," it was made of an unknown material, and was filled with beautifully written meaningless words. The final door was marked "Strength." It looked like a common wooden door, but it was surrounded by a powerful aura.

Silver made his decision without any doubt in his mind. He walked through the common wooden door. After walking through a voice appeared within his mind.

"Greetings potential inheritor. I left part of my strength in hundreds of ruins across the continent. You have to prove yourself worthy in order to inherit some of my power. Because this is the first ruin you have reached, you will only need to pass a simple test of skill. Make your way to the end of this tomb without dying. If you succeed you may inherit part of the power of the True Emperor!" The voice was filled with boundless authority, causing Silver a visceral reaction. The Emperor of 1000 years ago was unbelievably powerful.

Silver continued through the tomb before reaching a large room.

Besides a human-like puppet placed at the center of the room, it was entirely empty.

Silver entered into the room and boldly approached the lone puppet. Suddenly the puppet took action; in one swift movement, the puppet closed the ten-foot distance between itself and Silver. The puppet arms flung wildly, resulting in an unbelievably quick and unpredictable strike!

Silver, incapable of both predicting and reacting, was struck with a powerful fist. Silver was sent flying towards the entrance of the room.

The Puppet returned to the center of the room not caring that Silver was still within the room.

Silver thought for a moment the puppet's strike did not deal damage, but instead just knocked him straight to the entrance of the room.

With this thought, Silver did not recklessly approach to the puppet. He glanced around the empty room, on the other side of the puppet was a door that leads to the next area. Silver only had to get through the puppet.

With that in mind, Silver attempted to approach in , but in the same location as last the puppet made it's move; launching Silver back to the entrance.

With Stealth out of the question, Silver could only use speed. For the move-speed, he entered Stealth and activated Frenzy. He then sprinted towards the door attempting to circle around the Puppet.

The puppet moved at an even faster speed than earlier. Instantly blocking Silver's way. Without an option Silver made prepared himself, but less than a second later Silver was knocked back to the entrance.

Silver then unexpectedly smiled; he has made a discovery! During the puppets assault, he was able to parry the first two strikes. It seemed that if he even slightly parries a strike it will lose all effectiveness.

With this in mind Silver directly approached the Puppet.

For two full hours, Silver approached and was knocked back by the Puppet. During this time Silver entered a trance; slowly Silver became more and more capable of parrying the Puppets random blows. After two full hours, Silver was capable of parrying nearly every single blow that the Puppet made.

After blocking over a hundred strikes in a row the Puppet stopped attacking, and the door behind it automatically opened wide. The first test has been cleared!

Silver then felt his energy rise.

Silver gained a generous amount of experience and his Parry Dagger Mastery jumped straight to five!

Silver exited the room and walked through the hall once again towards the following test.

He entered the next room, and quickly observed his surroundings. The room was a replica of the last, except this time the puppet in the center had a small shield equipped.

Silver approached the puppet, but no reaction occurred. Silver walked by the inactive puppet, and towards the metal door. Unfortunately, this door was sturdy and Silver had no way of opening it.

Silver then arrived back at the Puppet and attempted to hit it with his dagger. In an instant, the Puppet moved and blocked the blade with its shield. Before stopping its movement again.

After looking at the information on the Puppet the solution became obvious to Silver. All he had to do was land a blow on the Puppet.

Silver began to attack the Shielded Puppet, but after five minutes of the assault, Silver was unable to land a single blow. Every blow was blocked by the shield.

Without a choice, Silver retreated regaining his calm. He calmly analyzed his opponent. The shield truly moved too quickly, even with skills Sliver was unable to get by it. After a moment of calm, Silver decided to garner more understanding of the defending Puppet by just attacking with normal blows.

Silver approached the Puppet and began a steady stream of blows. Silver slowly entered another trance, he attacked using a pattern, which grew in complexity after every rotation. Slowly his blow seemed to become endued with a certain essence.

Once the Puppet approached its' limits Silver surprisingly used . Accelerating his blow causing it to bypass the Puppets Shield.

The Puppet then dropped its shield and the metal door slid open. Silver once again felt energy surging inside of him.

Although Silver was happy with his reward and eager for the next test, he had no choice but take a break due to his stamina reaching zero.
