CHAPTER NINETEEN(19) Pick Your Teammates

The images of the three incomplete buildings popped up first. Showing different angles of it.

"It's only three buildings truly."

"I can see that too."

"Why did Lai Shun say the opposite then?"

"I don't know but misinforming us is totally wrong!"

"Lai Shun were you trying to make a fool of us?"

Lai Shun's jaw dropped. "No..."

"What do you mean by no?"

"Yes, explain to us because you told us the opposite of the truth."

"I... I was... I was also misinformed!" Lai Shun didn't enjoy how the tables turned from Rose to him.

"How can our construction manager be misinformed?" Rose question made all eyes turn to Lai Shun.

Lai Shun had a hard time seating there with all eyes on him. "I mean..."

"It's fine." Rose tone carried with it a sound of victory. "Since so many of you are misinformed about it all. I'll like to send you out to the construction sites, for much better clarification on what we are doing."

There was noise in the room instantly, while some whispered, some spoke out loud.

"What are you saying ma'am?"

"Pick your teammate, I'll be sending you off to the sites from tomorrow onwards."

"But..."

"What?" Rose asked. "Is there a problem?" No one spoke.

"Speak up now before I make my final decision."

Rose smiled watching some sigh in anger, some scrunching up their faces.

"It's decided then, as early as nine o'clock tomorrow, the company's luxurious bus will convey everyone to the site." A smile bloomed on her face.

While sighs we're heard from all corners of the room. No one had a happy look on.

"Also I will wait for you to come back with reports of how many units are in each building. Exciting pictures from there also that we can use for end of year unveiling." She stepped away from the projector and made a low bow.

They bowed in return as she picked up her documents and left.

"I can't believe that Lai Shun has put us in trouble."

"I bet he did it on purpose so he won't be the only one punished."

"Yes, you're right!"

"Lai Shun, I'm never forgiving you for this."

"Neither will I."

They started speaking as soon as she was out of sight.

Lai Shun was burning up. It felt like he was being roasted under the sun.

When he thought about the blazing sun outside it made him want to cry. And his colleagues weren't helping out. He didn't respond to any of them until they all left.

Yeah... he shouldn't really mess with Rose. His grandmother was right.

*~~~*

Rose received a call from Grace.

Rose smiled at the beginning of the text but frowned when Grace mentioned that he wanted to see her.

She texted back then relaxed onto the wall of the elevator.

The same time the elevator beeped was the same time a message entered.

Rose sent back a smiling emoji first then typed.

Rose got to her office, took out her iPad and continued her sketch. "He sure is smart..." she mumbled. "I lord that he is."

The more she sketched the more satisfaction showed on her face. "He might end up not regretting it." Rose nodded. "He won't."

Few minutes later, Rose got a text. It was the time and location.

It would be around five in the evening.

Rose noted that and went back to her sketch. After some time, there was a light knock on her door as Xu Dandan came in with a tray of meal. She set it on the table called out to Rose.

"Mrs Chen sent this over." Xu Dandan informed her when Rose didn't react.

Rose quickly sat up, she dropped the iPad and walked straight to the table.

"Could I join you?" Xu Dandan asked with a pout.

"No." Rose's sharp answer didn't surprise Dandan. Rose would give you anything but her food.

"Ma'am, please..."

Rose ignored Dandan and took a bite of everything in the table. The more she took a bite, the more her apetite grew.

Dandan dropped onto the couch. She used her hand to support her chin as she waited for Rose to invite her.

"Ma'am, you're not really planning on finishing all these right?"

Rose didn't reply.

"That's not fair."

"I agree." Rose replied. "It's dark."

Dandan frowned. "What's that?"

"What is my schedule for the evening?"

"That you've a meeting with the shareholders."

Rose abruptly stopped. "Since when?"

"They just informed us, some minutes ago."

Rose thought for a while and asked again. "How long?"

"Should last an hour as it is to discuss about the new project."

Rose smirked. A little bit of lateness wouldn't hurt that much...

"What are you thinking?" Dandan wanted to know. "I hope it's not to avoid the meeting."

"Certainly won't." Rose assured her. "Just make sure it is one hour and not a minute late."

"Yes Ma'am. I'll go inform Zedong."

Rose rubbed her stomach. She felt better. Since she wasn't a big fan of fruit juice, she took a glass of water. Then burped afterwards.
