Was Somebody, Now Nobody

With no time to waste, Steph slowly leaves the area.

She saw the true meaning of hell.

She saw the real world. To always be punished when you break the rule of survival.

She walks to where she sees his body, Matt's body.

Kneeling down to see if he could be saved, she saw a flicker of his eye. He must be alive, she thought.

Alive, but possessed. She knew spirits roam around the ones who tend to be weak or hurt.

Noises began to come from him, sounded like broken English to be exact. Steph reached for her big dusted bag, grabbed a book full of spiritual spells, and her watch. Seemed stupid enough, but she had a plan to soul trap the spirit after expelling it out of his body. "Unleash the power of the ancient soul, to begone deadra demomorsa".

She chanted. A big blue beam spawn from within his chest, brighter than the sun.

Matt's head turned sideways to look up towards the kneeling girl. "But how-" Steph's eyes grew wider than before. Soon, she leaned down to kiss his pale, drained of life forehead, thanking God that he was alive. They continued to walk for a while, looking at the sun as if it was a window to another life.

Steph knew the real world was...deadly. Steph never saw it look this horrible, but Matt has.

Matt would do all kinds of things. He once told her about a story called the lost realm. How zombs would walk over you if you were one of the weak.

Matt had a katana, passed down from his father, and I assure you, he was pretty damn good with the thing. The long silver sword that could cut with one hit.

"So...that watch where'd you get it" Matt asked.

"I don't know, don't care...besides I don't have it anymore " Steph said.

"I hope you know you have that watch for a reason" Matt stopped to turn and assure her.

"Yeah...I know...it belongs to the lost realm" Steph shot back.

"Check that pocket you had it in" Matt looked down as she reached for her pocket.

"What !,I thought I got-". Steph got cut off.

"You thought you got rid of it" Matt said with a smirk on his face.

"The same spirits that you catch, may enter you if you try to destroy that watch"

"That's the reason why it comes back to you".

-3 miles later-

They finally came to a short stop, after Matt was out of breath. It was a hot day during spring, filled with flies and mosquitoes. Not many trees around, but the sun took up the space in the sky.

"Is anybody following us" Matt asked.

"I don't think so...why" Steph said in response.

"I don't know...I though I saw someone".

Matt saw something, but he wasn't really sure about what he saw.

"Here have some water" Steph offered.

"No thanks...I don't need anything "

"Yes, you do...you're being delusional".

"No, I'm not...look behind you".

Matt and Steph turned around and saw Kit and Tom standing a great distance behind them.

In reality, they was supposed to be long gone.

He couldn't believe it. Matt walked forward to where he recognized his friends. Little did he know.

"Matt, What the hell are you doing!" Steph said with anger.

"Don't worry I know what I'm doing".

As Matt walked towards them, they became closer and closer.

"Matt" Kit said in shock. The girl had eyes like a emerald and would tell stories like a book. A tall slender body indeed, but with a hint of masculinity.

Tom was built like a bulletproof bull and had one scar going across his right eye, that reminded people to not mess with him.

"Long time, no see" Tom said with a devilish smirk on his face.

"So...you just gonna leave us for dead"

Tom stepped forward with his black tied boots and chipped shotgun.

Matt pulled out his katana that shined in the sun like silk.

"Don't you dare, Matt" Kit yelled.

Kit screamed loud enough for the zombs and Steph to hear her. Steph ran to where Matt was.

When she came to a stop she examined the faces of the two people. Steph tapped Matt on the back in a form of anger. She whispered "never go alone" only because she knew that he wasn't worthy. Even after all those killing sprees he went on...he wasn't ready. He wasn't ready to kill a enemy he once called friend.

"I can handle it from here" Steph told him.

"You go get some rest...you look weak".

Steph approached Tom, knowing that he was possessed. She won't spare this life.

It was against the rules.

Don't trust everyone...she thought.

Picking up Matt's katana, she went behind Tom and penetrated the sword into his neck.

Blood spewing all over the sword, as she let his body fall to rest.

"May you rest in heavenly peace " Steph said taking the sword out of his neck.

She closed her eyes and asked for forgiveness.

Matt's eyes widened with hate, fear, and sorrow.

To see oceans in eyes...turn into black clouds in the sky. Matt saw reality.
